The cast has been announced in waves, so let’s dig into what we know:

Will Ferrell naturally leads in the role of Lonnie ‘The Hawk’ Hawkins. Lonnie, a once-celebrated PGA champion and former world number one, now struggles to reclaim his fading glory. Proud and stubborn, he refuses to accept his decline, straining ties with his rising-star son, Lance, and alienating those closest to him. After the death of his longtime caddy, Old Henry, Lonnie is forced to face his loneliness, mounting debts, and the painful search for redemption beyond the spotlight.

The actor has had an extensive comedy career, having starred in dozens of films since 1996, such as Step Brothers, Anchorman, Blades of Glory, Semi-Pro, The Other Guys, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Old School, Zoolander, and many more. As far as Netflix projects go, Ferrell has starred in the 2020 film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga and Between Two Ferns: The Movie. That’s in addition to appearances on John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA and reprising his role as Ron Burgundy in The Roast of Tom Brady.

Ferrell will reunite on screen with Molly Shannon (Only Murders in the Building, Driver’s Ed), who plays Stacy, Lonnie’s sharp-tongued and assertive ex-wife, a fit, no-nonsense woman determined to reclaim her independence. Fortune Feimster (FUBAR, The Mindy Project) is playing Sam, “a new caddie and possible good luck charm…”

Jimmy Tatro (Real Bros of Simi Valley, American Vandal) plays the role of Lance, the son of Lonnie and a disciplined rising star on the pro golf circuit, already claiming multiple tour wins. Health-conscious and laser-focused, he contrasts sharply with his father Lonnie’s reckless decline.

Luke Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Old School) is stepping into the role of Golden Fisk, described as a Shooter McGavin-type arch-nemesis who rivals Will Ferrell’s character, having beaten him for the tour championship twice.
Other announced names for the series include:

  • David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as Radford, Stacy’s new partner.
  • Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live) as Anton, described as a PGA Tour board member and all-around jerk.
  • Katelyn Tarver (Big Time Rush) as Natalie, described as a social media influencer and the fiancée of Lance.
  • Gabriel Hogan (Heartland) as Jerry.
  • Monroe Cline (Don’t Worry Darling) as Denise.
  • Thomas Kasp (The Space Between) as Jason.
  • Evan Shafran as an unnamed tennis player.
