Back in April 2018, it was announced that Netflix would be producing its very first Turkish Netflix Original called The Protector. With the end of the year fast approaching we still don’t have a confirmed release date. Here is everything we know so far about The Protector.
Netflix has been expanding its Original library by the droves in the past couple of years. While many of the Originals they have produced have been English, Netflix has also started to expand into other countries as well. With popular titles such as Sacred Games (Indian) and The Rain (Danish), it’s easy to see why Netflix is eager to expand its influence across other markets.
Netflix has a large amount of Turkish series and films in their library so it was only a matter of time before Netflix would produce their very own Turkish Original series. This new sci-fi action drama looks like it could be a very entertaining watch. The premise of the show is described as such:
The series follows the epic adventure of Hakan, a young shopkeeper whose modern world gets turned upside down when he learns he’s connected to a secret, ancient order, tasked with protecting Istanbul. At the story’s start, Hakan couldn’t be further from a hero — just an ordinary guy in this city of 15 million, where East meets West and past meets present. He must quickly learn that his hometown is under threat from the mysterious, mystical Immortals, and it’s his job to stop them. It’s a task he’s not only unprepared for, but resists — will he fulfill his destiny as the last protector?

When is the release date?
At this moment in time, there is no confirmed date but The Protector is expected to release sometime in the final quarter of 2018.

How many episodes will season one have?
Season one is currently listed to have 10 episodes.
Has Netflix already commisioned a second season?
While it has been listed on IMDB that a second season is set to be released in 2019, there is no official confirmation from Netflix.
