Netflix has many exciting and dramatic sports documentaries ready to stream. The next sport being added to that expanding list is baseball, as Netflix’s new documentary in development will follow the Major League Baseball franchise, the Bosten Red Sox, during the 2024 season. A second doc, following chronicling the events of the Boston Red Sox 2004 title-winning season, is also coming this year.

Within a few years, Netflix has quickly become the home of some of the world’s most exciting sports documentaries. F1: Drive to Survive, Break Point, Six Nations: Full Contact, The Redeem Team, and Beckham are just a few of the many great sports documentaries you can stream now.

Netflix has partnered with MLB Studios for two exciting new projects about the Major League Ballball team Boston Red Sox. The first will chronicle the 2004 title-winning season, and the second will follow the journey of the Boston Red Sox team across the 2024 Major League Baseball season.

The streaming service will have unprecedented access to the Boston Red Sox players, coaching staff, and executives. The series will be released sometime in 2025.

Who are the Boston Red Sox?

First established in 1901, The Boston Red Sox were initially named Boston Americans and were one of eight founding members of the American League. By 1912, the team had moved away from the Huntington Avenue Baseball Grounds to the legendary Fenway Park and adopted the Red Sox name.

The Red Sox won the first-ever World Series in 1903 and have gone on to win a total of nine titles, which included an 86-year drought that ended in 2004. 46 former players, managers, and executives are currently in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Under the ownership of John Henry, Tom Werner and their partners, who also own the English Premier League football club, Liverpool, have overseen one of the most successful periods of the Red Sox’s history, having won four World Series, renovating Fenway Park, and maintaining the longest sellout streak in baseball history.
