Resurrection: Ergual (Diriliş ‘Ertuğrul’) is one of the best Turkish shows currently streaming on Netflix right now. As many Turkish show fans know by now, their release schedules in the West are far from ideal. Although we can’t give you a firm date for the next season of Resurrection on Netflix, we can provide some background and give you a rough prediction as to whether we will and when get season 3 on Netflix.
As many of you will know by now, Turkey produces some fantastic dramas and many can be found on Netflix. Netflix provides us with an otherwise hidden array of gems. Resurrection: Ergual is a historical drama set in 13th-century Turkey where a warrior agrees to fight a sultan’s enemies in exchange for new tribal land.
One important point we need to make about Turkish series on Netflix is that the series is often changed significantly from the original broadcast. In the case of Resurrection, the series is not only subtitled, but also the runtimes are tweaked too. 130 episodes are split into two seasons in 45-minute episodes. In Turkey, the show is up to season 4 with episodes ranging from an hour to several hours at a time.
Release Schedule So Far
Both available seasons of Resurrection landed on Netflix back in April 2017. Multiple regions were in receipt of the series including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Given its release, we’re likely only a few actually two or three seasons into the show.
When will season 3 & 4 be on Netflix?
New episodes are planned in Turkey from September this year. We expect that Netflix will likely get new episodes quite a while after season 5 wraps up in the middle of next year.
That means we’re currently predicting that new episodes won’t arrive on Netflix until 2020 at the earliest. We realize this a bleak prediction but as with other Turkish shows, release dates are hard to predict and often, Netflix doesn’t pick up future seasons.
You can watch new seasons right now
The somewhat good news is that the new seasons are widely available online and in most cases are free. The main drawback is that they’re not subtitled or dubbed. That means you’ll be wanting to brush up on your Turkish before diving in.
