Highlights on What’s Coming to Netflix This Week
The Hunting Wives (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: Monday
Originally meant for Starz, Netflix US is the new home for The Hunting Wives which drops all eight episodes of its first season today. The story centers on Sophie, who trades city life for East Texas and falls into the magnetic orbit of a wealthy socialite, where a clique of housewives hides deadly secrets.
While you’ll see plenty of people referring to this as a Netflix show, it’s not quite a Netflix Original. Netflix has exclusive distribution in the US for only a single year and has opted not to place its branding on it.
In our review, we gave the series 3 out of 5 stars, calling it a dark and provocative series that thrives on the intense, manipulative relationship between Sophie and Margo, blending themes of loyalty, secrets, and cultural clashes with murder and mystery.
Until Dawn (2025)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday
Video game adaptations are all the rage right now, and it was only a matter of time until the critically acclaimed horror Until Dawn would be getting an on-screen adaptation, and that came to fruition earlier this year and now arrives on Netflix for an 18-month period.
The official synopsis reads:
“One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.”
Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Odessa A’zion, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, Maia Mitchell, and Peter Stormare are among the ensemble cast for the horror that did moderately well at the box office and picked up mixed reviews.
Happy Gilmore 2 (2025)
Coming to Netflix: Friday
Thirty years ago, Happy Gilmore gave golf a try, and the rest is history. Now, all these years later, the character is putting back on his hockey jersey and picking up the clubs once again to compete in a golf championship. The movie will feature old rivalries and new ones, with returning and fresh faces, including a group of Gilmore sprogs running about, in addition to more cameos and special appearances than have been featured in any Netflix Original movie to date.
