It’s time to break out the Razzles! Overnight, two brand-new sets of filming snaps emerged from Netflix’s upcoming 13 Going on 30 project in Los Angeles, bringing a massive surprise: original stars Jennifer Garner and Judy Greer are back.
As we’ve been tracking closely ever since we first revealed that Netflix was developing a 13 Going on 30 movie reboot, the streamer is deep into production on a new take on the beloved 2004 romantic comedy. Up until now, the project has firmly been billed as a “reboot.” But with the original Jenna Rink and Lucy Wyman officially spotted on set, fans are already asking the big question: Is this actually a continuation, a sequel, or just a reboot with some incredible legacy cameos?
Here’s a breakdown of the latest set photos, casting updates, and production details.
Malibu Weddings and Santa Monica Reunions
Over the past 24 hours, paparazzi have captured two distinct batches of set photos that give us our best look yet at the production.
The first set of pictures sees the cast down at Zuma Beach in Malibu, filming what appears to be a wedding or celebration-type setting on the beach.
The second lot of photos brought the internet to a standstill. Spotted in Santa Monica, California, Jennifer Garner and Judy Greer were seen filming scenes alongside the reboot’s new leading lady, Emily Bader. We already knew Garner was attached to the project behind the camera as an executive producer, but there was previously zero confirmation that she would be stepping in front of the lens.
It is currently unclear if Garner and Greer are reprising their iconic roles as Jenna and Lucy, playing older mentors, or taking on entirely new characters as a fun nod to the original film. Could Jenna Rink be passing the magic wishing dust down to a new generation? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Taylor Zakhar Perez and More Join the Stacked Cast
The set photos aren’t the only major news to drop this week. It was just revealed that Red, White & Royal Blue star Taylor Zakhar Perez has officially boarded the film.
He joins a seriously impressive ensemble. As we previously noted when breaking down the June Los Angeles filming start and new character details, the film officially stars Emily Bader (People We Meet on Vacation) and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson, Bullet Train) in the lead roles, with Jessica Alba (Trigger Warning) and Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) in the supporting cast.

Production Status: Everything Else We Know
Cameras have officially been rolling for a month now. As we reported when filming first began and we rounded up everything we knew so far, production kicked off on June 23, 2026, and is scheduled to wrap up in just a few weeks on August 10, 2026, filming exclusively in Los Angeles and the LA Thirty Mile Zone.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that the production secured a massive $10.9 million tax credit from the state of California, with the film carrying an estimated budget in the $30M to $50M range. Netflix is co-producing the movie alongside RK Films and Revolution Studios.
Behind the camera, Brett Haley is directing. Haley is fresh off an Emmy nomination for directing Netflix’s upcoming People We Meet on Vacation adaptation (which also stars Emily Bader). The script was penned by Hannah Marks (who also serves as an EP), with revisions by Flora Greeson.
Rounding out the crew, Rob Givens serves as the director of photography, with music by composer Keegan DeWitt, and casting handled by Carla Hool.
