The Truthers is an upcoming Spanish Netflix Original psychological thriller film directed by Roger Gual (Gangs of Galicia) and written by Elite’s Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, who are also executive producers alongside Diego Betancor. The feature is produced by El Desorden Crea, with Juana Jiménez attached as the director of photography.

What is the plot of The Truthers?

Netflix has provided a synopsis for the film:

“Ruth, a 30-year-old woman who has been estranged from her family for some time, returns home when her mother dies under strange circumstances. There, she is reunited with her father, Martín, who, since retiring, seems to have become a grumpy, aggressive man obsessed with a sinister conspiracy theory. The relationship between the two of them is so tense, and his behavior so erratic, that Ruth begins to suspect Martín might be responsible for her mother’s death. Is it possible she’s sharing a roof with a murderer?”

Where was The Truthers filmed?

According to Netflix’s official press releases, filming for The Truthers took place across various locations in Asturias and Madrid in Spain, as well as internationally in the city of Berlin, Germany.

Principal photography commenced in the spring of 2025. According to local Spanish outlet La Voz del Trubia, filming specifically kicked off in Asturias on March 11, 2025. Early shooting locations mapped out by the production company El Desorden Crea included the Valdemurio reservoir, as well as the nearby Asturian municipalities of Mieres and Langreo.
