An ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Movie Is Likely On The Way From Netflix

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – Netflix

As fans may or may not know, Season 4 will be the last season for the quirky and clever Netflix show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The season will consist of two parts, the first of which became available May 30. When the episodes released there were rumors that a movie may follow to tie up any loose ends, something we’ve seen before with another Netflix series Sense8. But the rumors are now confirmed there will be a movie.

While there is still no official word from Netflix, showrunner Robert Carlock revealed that although they all felt season four felt like the right time to end things, he’d like to do one last finale in the form of a movie.

We now have a shorter runway than we originally thought we would and don’t want to overstuff it and rush it. And there are things that I think would be fun to hold off for kind of a big epic finale in feature form.

On the Andy Cohen show Watch What Happens Live, Jane Krakowski addressed rumors about a potential Kimmy Schmidt movie.

Not an official confirmation, but I’m thinking we can all count on a movie headed our way. Jane stressed it remains a rumor at this point in time.  The movie will reportedly be written by Kimmy co-creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock following production on Season 4.

When would the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt movie be on Netflix?

The final six episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will be released on January 25, 2019. Given the fact that production has wrapped but no calls have been made to agents, we think we’re a long way off a movie. NBC productions tend to be pretty slick so if we had to guess, we’d say the Unbreakable movie will be coming toward the tail-end of 2019.
