Netflix’s latest pickup from Australia has been revealed! Following a string of major announcements, Netflix has acquired the global rights (excluding Australia) to the live-action family comedy series Caper Crew.
Produced by the acclaimed Australian studio Easy Tiger (the team behind Colin from Accounts and Scrublands) for the ABC, Caper Crew originally premiered in Australia back in April 2026. Now, thanks to a deal with the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF) (via If), the 10-part series is set to bring its unique brand of mischief to Netflix subscribers in over 190 territories worldwide.
The acquisition marks the second major Australian broadcast pickup for Netflix in just the last few months. As we just covered, Netflix also snagged the global streaming rights to the highly anticipated SBS drama The Airport Chaplain starring Hugo Weaving, which lands on the platform on August 26th. Also on the ABC side, Netflix has picked up multiple seasons of the hit comedy series Fisk.

What is the plot of Caper Crew?
Described as a stylish and fast-paced family adventure, Caper Crew draws inspiration from the true stories of the 1960s “Kangaroo Gang”—a notorious group of real-life Australian jewelry thieves who executed heists across Europe. Here is the official synopsis for the series:
“Amelia and Kai Delaney’s quiet lives are upended when their con-artist grandmother Queenie teaches them the art of the grift—sparking their hunt for the priceless Woodspring Nug.”
Across the 10 episodes, which boast heist-themed titles like “Know What Your Mark Wants to Hear” and “Conning is More Art Than Science,” the kids will have to outsmart their rivals, cross paths with OG Kangaroo Gang members like “Cuttlefish” and “Bruiser,” and even face off against the scary school canteen lady, Gretchen.

Who is in the cast of Caper Crew?
The ensemble is packed with familiar faces from Australian television. Leading the charge as the glamorous, con-artist grandmother Queenie is Tina Bursill (Strife, Doctor Doctor).
She is joined by an impressive supporting cast, including:

Who is behind the series?
Caper Crew was produced by Easy Tiger Productions, one of Australia’s most successful scripted studios. Yingna Lu served as the series producer, working alongside executive producers Ian Collie, Rob Gibson, and the ACTF’s Bernadette O’Mahony. Cast member Guy Edmonds also served as the set-up director, working alongside directors Stef Smith and Shelly Lauman. The writing team includes Keith Thompson, Matthew Whittet, Amy Stewart, Jack Yabsley, and Erica Harrison.
When will Caper Crew release on Netflix?
Netflix has yet to announce a firm global release date for Caper Crew, but given that the series has already aired in Australia, we expect to see it drop on the streamer very soon. We’ll keep you posted as soon as an official date is revealed!
(Note: As with most of these co-licensing deals, the series will not be available on Netflix in Australia, as the ABC retains the domestic rights.)
