Tyler Perry has pulled a fast one on us. In a rare move for Netflix, Beauty in Black has been renewed for a fourth season, officially reversing the previous announcement that Season 3 would be the show’s final outing.

If you’ve been following our coverage of Beauty in Black, you’ll remember that we previously reported Season 3 was set to be the last hurrah for the hit drama series following the early 2026 release of Season 2. However, ahead of Season 3 even making its debut on the platform, Netflix has confidently greenlit a fourth season.

The news comes as Netflix’s recent engagement report data tells us the series across its two seasons has now surpassed 1 billion viewing hours on Netflix (1.048B to be exact), equating to over 104M views. Beauty in Black Season 1 was particularly a global juggernaut, spending seven weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 and reaching #1 in an impressive 28 countries. Season 2 proved the audience was incredibly sticky, spending an additional six weeks in the Global Top 10 and securing the #1 spot in 17 countries.

The news was announced today via Netflix and Tyler Perry’s social channels, featuring a surprise video from the cast and crew celebrating the renewal, which looks to be a creative decision in addition to the series’ continued strong viewership.

In the Instagram video, Tyler Perry and the cast shared the good news directly with fans:

“Hey, everybody, Tyler Perry here. The Bellaries are not done causing trouble. We’ve been keeping this secret as long as we could. But it’s finally time to let y’all in on it. Brand new episodes of Beauty in Black are coming. Season four is officially in the works. Thank you for riding with us at Netflix on this Bellary trip that’s going to go crazy next season. The women of Beauty in Black definitely are done shaking things up. We’ll see you in season four. We got four seasons for y’all. Come on, let’s do it.”

Speaking to Netflix, Executive Producer, Creator, Writer, and Director Tyler Perry elaborated on why the story simply couldn’t end with Season 3.

Beauty in Black is back for Season 4 and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished. There was so much more I wanted to explore and I’m grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes are on the way!”
