The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants – Netflix/Dreamworks
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants now has two seasons under its belt on Netflix and as normal, we’ve heard about the renewal of season 3 as we get the release date for it. Season 3 is due out in July 2019, here’s what to expect.
The series is based around the adventures of George and Harold and their headteacher who can be turned into the hero of Captain Underpants at the click of a finger. The series is based on the novel series of the same name by Dav Pilkey but also follows the 2017 movie too.
Season 1 dropped on Netflix on July 13th, 2018 and season 2 arrived just a couple of months into February 2019 on the 8th. Each season had 13 episodes a piece.
Netflix gets Epic Tales of Captain Underpants from Dreamworks who have now been working with the streaming company since 2013. It’s seen dozens of seasons of various shows release under its banner.
But there’s been good news and bad news with this relationship. The bad news is that we often don’t hear the future of Dreamworks shows right up until the next season is due for release. For example, we didn’t hear of season 2 of Captain Underpants until January 2019 and that’s happened once again.
Will and when season 3 of The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants be on Netflix?
The second season concluded with the pair now being separated to go to summer camp. There’s plenty of stories left to tell and we believe it’s got a few more series left.
We were originally predicting that the show’s third season would release in either September or October 2019 but now we know it’s returning in July 2019.
Releasing alongside 3Below part 2, The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants (Season 3) is due to release on Netflix worldwide on July 19th, 2019.
Remember, Dreamworks also has several other ongoing projects at the moment including Spirit Riding Free and 3Below season 2.
While you’re waiting, there’s plenty of other Dreamworks series to be streaming but of course, the Captain Underpants movie is still available (in the US) and Dav Pilkey has lots of other Captain Underpants stuff for you on his website.
