Hadewych Minis and Geert van Rampelberg – Pictures via the actor’s agencies
Not every love story gets a happy ending. Netflix is betting on that idea with a new Dutch-language drama series starring Hadewych Minis and Geert van Rampelberg. Netflix confirmed today that production has officially begun on the untitled project, which is expected to premiere worldwide in 2027.
The new drama follows Alex. When she meets the charming Christiaan, there is an immediate spark between them. What begins as an unexpected and passionate romance gradually evolves into a relationship that becomes increasingly unhealthy.
Netflix has provided the following synopsis: “When the ever-practical Alex (Hadewych Minis) meets the charming Christiaan (Geert van Rampelberg), they fall head over heels for each other. Alex throws herself wholeheartedly into this new and unexpected love. But the unpredictability with which he alternately pulls her close and pushes her away becomes maddening, and in her attempts to prove her love, Alex risks losing everything, including herself.”
Who stars in the new Netflix series?

Netflix has assembled an impressive cast for the upcoming drama. Leading the series are Hadewych Minis and Geert van Rampelberg. Minis is best known for her role as Marina in the film Borgman, for which she won the Dutch Golden Calf Award for Best Actress in 2013. She later appeared in several notable productions, including the Netflix film Forever Rich.
Alongside her, Geert van Rampelberg takes on the male lead. The Belgian actor is known for his performances in Young Hearts, The Alzheimer Case, and Patsers. Netflix viewers may also recognize him from the French crime series Ganglands.
The supporting cast includes:
- Ruben van der Meer
- Marcel Hensema
- Tina de Bruin
- Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing
- Freek Bartels
- Abke Haring
- Fockeline Ouwerkerk
- Sophie van Winden
- Kendrick Etmon
The series will be directed by Paula van der Oest, known for Black Butterflies and De Joodse Raad, alongside Remy van Heugten, whose credits include Son of Mine. The screenplay is being written by Dorien Goertzen, Aliefka Bijlsma, Jop Esmeijer, and Paula van der Oest. Production is handled by NL Film and Sunny Pictures.
Looking ahead to the production, Paula van der Oest said in a statement: “I am looking forward to bringing this vulnerable story to life as a series, supported by a remarkable cast. Portraying the anatomy of a toxic relationship requires precision and mutual trust from everyone involved on set. I’m excited about the filming period ahead and about collaborating with Netflix.”
Elsewhere on the Dutch slate, the streamer is developing The Silence, De Eetclub (based on Saskia Noort’s novel), and a true-crime series about the kidnapping of Truus van der Valk — while continuing to back the comedies that have long anchored its Dutch programming, with Roosters already renewed for a second season and Voetbalouders set to return with new episodes.
Netflix has not yet announced an official title or exact release date for the new series. However, the company has confirmed that the drama is expected to premiere globally on the platform sometime in 2027.
