Ahead of Netflix’s Wednesday season 2, we recently caught up with newcomer Noah B. Taylor, who joins the show as Nevermore Academy’s newest heartthrob, Bruno Yuson.

Wednesday season 2 is one of Netflix’s most anticipated shows of 2025, alongside other major releases like Stranger Things 5. Season 1 was among the streamer’s most successful debuts. The sophomore season sees Jenna Ortega’s gloomy teenage detective Wednesday Addams return to Nevermore Academy for another term, where, no doubt, she finds herself once again entangled in a web of mysteries.

Wednesday is Noah B. Taylor’s first major role, and he’s jumped right in at the deep end. He joins the cast as Bruno Yuson, a young man with roots in the Philippines, who charms his fellow Nevermore students with his brooding intensity.‭ “Bruno’s a new member of the wolf pack at Nevermore, and he walks around with the‬ confidence and intensity that comes with the territory,” Taylor teases.

He was particularly excited to get the chance to play this character, whom he sees as well-developed. “Al Gough and Miles Millar did a great job creating such a fleshed-out and populated‬‭ world, and I thought the character of Bruno was crafted really well,” he explains. “He was written in a way‬ where there was space for me to read in between the lines and create a personal approach to‬ the character.‬”

As for his inspirations behind the role, Taylor cites one project as his ultimate go-to. “I had a lot of fun getting to play the ‘cool guy,'” he says. “One of my favorite performances is‬‭ Masatoshi Nagase in‬Mystery Train.‬‭ He’s the epitome of suave in that film but he also carries a‬ certain tenderness that humanises him. That balance was fascinating to me and it was a great‬ reference point for me in the moments where we get to see Bruno open up.‬”

Of course, with Bruno being outgoing and intense, he’s very much the antithesis of the type of person Wednesday Addams likes. so don’t expect Wednesday to get attached. “Wednesday is obviously very picky with who she likes and I’m not sure Bruno is one of‬ the lucky few,” he explains, adding that Bruno “gets to develop some very interesting relationships with other characters‬ over the course of the season.‬”

‭With this being his first major role, Taylor found himself working under the direction of legendary filmmaker Tim Burton. It doesn’t get much bigger than him. “Tim was amazing to work with. He’s very specific with his creative vision and would give‬ guidance if I was off course, but I also felt like there was trust that I would bring what I needed to‬ ‭ bring to the character and he gave me space to do that.‬”

Reflecting on his experience on-set, Taylor says his time was unforgettable. ‭It was incredible. It was definitely the most surreal experience of my life and I don’t think‬‭ it’s fully sunk in yet. I’m so grateful to the cast for being so welcoming and that I get to be a part‬‭ of this project.‬” Naturally, he’s a little apprehensive of how his character will go down in the fandom. “I could see it going a number of ways but I’m very excited to see the‬ response to the character.‬”

‭Noah B. Taylor may have landed a role in one of the hottest shows on television, but he’s continuing to pursue other projects. “I’m in a band called One Minute Friend with my brother and we’ve got some singles,‬‭ music videos and an album coming out in August. I’ve also been working on a novel in the past‬‭ few months so I’m excited to keep working on that.‬”

Wednesday season 2, part 1 premieres August 6 on Netflix. The series will return for Part 2 on September 3.
