Private Practice, one of the multiple spinoffs of Grey’s Anatomy is headed to Netflix in the United States in December 2019. Here’s a look at the series, why it’s coming to Netflix and more.

Let’s start off with the key details. Private Practice will be rejoining Netflix on December 22nd. All six seasons will be jumping on Netflix.

Only Netflix in the United States is currently scheduled to get Private Practice added in December.

The spinoff to Grey’s Anatomy is about one of the characters in the main show leaving to start a private practice.

At Oceanside Wellness Center, Dr. Addison Montgomery deals with competing personalities in the new world of holistic medicine.

For longtime subscribers of Netflix, you’ll know this isn’t Private Practice’s first rodeo on Netflix. In fact, it was streaming right up until two and a half years ago. It was removed from Netflix in June 2017.

One of the big questions you might have now is why has ABC licensed this title to Netflix. After all, most ABC shows instantly either go to Hulu or Disney+.

The reason is relatively simple. Behind Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy is produced by Shondaland. Shonda Rhimes is the creator of the show and signed a big deal with Netflix a couple of years ago.

Much like with Ryan Murphy, Netflix has continued licensing their shows whether it’s from ABC in the case of Rhimes or Fox and FX from Murphy.

While we wait for the first wave of Shonda Rhimes to hit Netflix starting in 2020, Netflix is hoping to get you hooked on her past endeavors.
