Players is one of Netflix’s major upcoming romantic comedies that’s set to be released on Netflix for Valentine’s Day 2024 but was originally set to debut at one point in 2023. Here’s everything we currently know about Players.
The film is directed by Trish Sie (The Sleepover, Step Up All In) and written by Whit Anderson (Ozark, Daredevil, The Twilight Zone).
Producer Marc Platt, known for creating some of Hollywood’s biggest hits like La La Land and Bridge of Spies, is involved in the project. Platt also served as an executive producer on the Netflix Original The Trial of the Chicago 7, which received six Academy Award nominations.

When Will Players Be Released on Netflix?
In January 2023, Netflix listed Players in its release schedule for the year, hinting at a Fall 2023 release. However, by late July, the release was postponed to 2024, with no specific date announced.
In January 2024, Netflix confirmed that Players would be scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day 2024, with the movie hitting the service globally on February 14th, 2024.

A trailer for Players was released on January 12th, 2024.
News of production began with a Tom Ellis Instagram post on July 19th, 2021, announcing his excitement to film in NYC. Official filming started on July 26th, 2021, and wrapped around September 10th, 2021.
The budget for the movie is reportedly somewhere between $ 10M and $20M.

What Is the Plot of Players?
The plot of Players, likened to Will Smith’s Hitch, has the following logline:
“New York sportswriter Mack and her friend Adam, along with their crew, have spent years crafting successful hook-up ‘plays.’ However, when Mack unexpectedly falls for one of her targets (Tom Ellis), they all must learn what it means to play for keeps.”
Originally, the plot was set in Chicago.
An update to the meta on the Players movie suggests the movie has a 1 hour and 45 minutes runtime and has been given a TV-MA rating.

Who Are the Cast Members of Players?
Fans of Lucifer will be thrilled to see Tom Ellis in another Netflix Original. Gina Rodriguez, recently seen in Netflix’s Awake, joins the cast alongside Joel Courtney (The Kissing Booth)
Damon Wayans Jr. (New Girl) will play Adam. YouTube star Liza Koshy and Augustus Prew (The Lord of the Rings series) will appear in unknown roles.
What’s on Netflix can also confirm that Ego Nwodim (Saturday Night Live) and Marin Hinkle (Two and a Half Men) will also star. Additional cast members include Jerry Kernion (Chicago Fire) as Carl and Brock O’Hurn (Boo! A Madea Halloween) as Brady Stratton.
