If you’ve been eagerly waiting for the next chapter in AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe to hit Netflix, we’ve got some excellent news for you. Talamasca: The Secret Order has finally secured its US release date and is set to drop all six episodes on Sunday, August 23rd, 2026.
Over the last couple of years, the AMC and Netflix licensing partnership has proven to be a massive win-win for both networks. We’ve seen flagship Immortal Universe titles like Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches find huge second lives and top the charts on the streaming service. Now, it’s time for the universe’s third installment to see if it can capture that same streaming magic.
What is Talamasca: The Secret Order about?
Created by John Lee Hancock, Talamasca: The Secret Order pivots away from the heavy gothic psychodrama of its predecessors and instead delivers a slick supernatural spy thriller. The six-part first season originally premiered on AMC back in October 2025.
The show follows Guy Anatole (played by Nicholas Denton), a troubled loner who falls headlong into the clandestine operations of the Talamasca—a secretive global agency responsible for investigating, tracking, and maintaining a fragile balance with vampires, witches, and other immortal beings.
Alongside Denton, the series boasts a stellar cast, including William Fichtner, Elizabeth McGovern, Celine Buckens, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers.
Catching Up with the International Rollout
If you’re outside the United States, you might have already had the chance to binge the series. As we previously covered, the international rollout for Talamasca has been underway for a little while, hitting select Netflix territories in early waves.
So, how did the series actually fare across the pond? According to data from our friends over at FlixPatrol, the show had a solid run in the daily top 10s across the globe. The supernatural thriller performed exceptionally well in Europe and select territories, spending up to a full two weeks (14 days) in the top 10 in countries like France and Sweden, where it peaked at the #2 spot. It even managed to snatch the coveted #1 spot in regions like Martinique, New Caledonia, and Reunion!
Over in the UK, it enjoyed a highly respectable 12-day run in the top 10 (also peaking at #2), while putting up consistent numbers across Latin America and Asia, averaging about a week in the charts in major markets like Brazil, Mexico, and the Philippines.
Now, Netflix US is getting in on the action. The series will officially make its stateside debut on August 23rd, adding some heavy-hitting supernatural espionage to our already packed preview of what’s coming to Netflix in August 2026. The big question is: can it replicate—or exceed—its international numbers in the highly competitive US market?
Can the “Netflix Effect” Save The Secret Order?
There is a bit of a bittersweet caveat to this release. As many Anne Rice fans will know, AMC canceled Talamasca: The Secret Order in March 2026 after just one season.
However, if there’s one thing we know about Netflix, it’s that the “Netflix Effect” is very real. We’ve seen licensed shows arrive on the platform, absolutely dominate the top 10 charts, and subsequently get revived or renewed by their parent networks (or by Netflix itself). While there are no guarantees, a massive, binge-heavy showing on Netflix US this August could be exactly the lifeline Guy Anatole and the Talamasca need.
So, if you’re hoping for a Season 2, you know what to do when August 23rd rolls around although keep your expectations low. We haven’t seen a major revival at Netflix in many years and the international top 10s don’t give us much hope.
