Netflix is deepening its library of animated series, which will soon include the new rebooted series for The Fairly OddParents, which will be released as The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish.

Nickelodeon’s The Fairly OddParents first debuted in 2001 following a string of animated shorts and ran for ten seasons through to the late 2010s. More recently, it was given a live-action reboot on Paramount+, although it was short-lived given that the series was pulled in January 2023.

The news comes via a leaked video (which we won’t embed or link to) following over a year’s worth of rumors and other leaks about a revival throughout 2023. It began with some trademark registrations tied to Nickelodeon and Paramount Global popping up early in the year. In July 2023, Nickalive spotted that Daran Norris, one of the voice actors in the original show, mentioned that he was working on a new The Fairly OddParents project. This is all in addition to numerous leaks regarding pitches and character bios.

The new series will ditch Timmy Turner in favor of a new protagonist, Hazel Wells, a 10-year-old girl living in Dimmadelphia. She recently moved to the city as her Dad has gotten a new job and is now without her brother, who has moved away to college.

Susanne Blakeslee and Daran Norris will be reprising their roles as Wanda and Cosmo, who are coming out of retirement to grant Hazel her wishes. Ashleigh Crystal Hairston is reportedly voicing the role of Hazel.

Butch Hartman and Fred Seibert serve as executive producers on the project.

The new project continues Netflix’s close ties with Nickelodeon

A new Nickelodeon series coming to Netflix shouldn’t be entirely surprising. Nickelodeon and Netflix have teamed up for a number of projects over the past few years.

On the live-action front, Netflix is the distributor exclusively outside of the United States for Erin & Aaron and That Girl Lay Lay. On the movie front, they’ve released movies for Invader Zim, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Loud House. Just recently, it was unveiled that the brand-new Casagrandes movie will be headed exclusively to Netflix at some point in 2024. That’s in addition to The Sandy Cheeks Movie also destined for release in 2024.

Three seasons of the original The Fairly OddParents have been streaming on Netflix in the United States since April 2022.

That’s not to mention that most regions, including the US, carry a bunch of Nickelodeon library content, too, whether that be the original Fairly Odd Parents, The Loud House, or Spongebob Squarepants.

What’s on Netflix reached out to Netflix on January 12th and multiple times since but have yet to receive a response. We’ll update you should we learn more.
