Production is officially underway in the UK on The Inbetweeners 3, the highly anticipated continuation of the beloved British sitcom. While Netflix has officially announced the start of filming, a recent batch of set photos, as revealed today by UK newspapers such as The Mirror, The Daily Mail and The Sun (via Click News), has revealed a slew of new faces joining the famous foursome—and teased a massive wedding that looks to belong to none other than Jay Cartwright.

First reported by the Daily Mail, candid snaps from the UK set have surfaced showing a huge wedding sequence currently filming. While we’ll be breaking down those set photos in a separate article very soon, the pictures have let the cat out of the bag regarding several new cast additions, a surprising returning face, and a major plot point.

As confirmed by Netflix’s initial announcement, the original lads are all back. Simon Bird (Will McKenzie), James Buckley (Jay Cartwright), Joe Thomas (Simon Cooper), and Blake Harrison (Neil Sutherland) are reprising their iconic roles.

However, the leaked set notes and photos also confirm the return of Emily Head, who will be reprising her role as Simon’s long-time school crush, Carli D’Amato. You can also see that Simon’s brother Andrew Cooper, played by Dominic Applewhite, is also back but looking much older! Simon’s dad is also back, played by Martin Trenaman

Who is joining the cast of The Inbetweeners 3?

As for the fresh faces joining the Netflix feature, the set pictures reveal a rather American-leaning ensemble. Even more intriguing? It looks like the wedding being filmed is actually for Jay! Could the ultimate exaggerator have actually managed to lock down an American bride?

Here are the new cast members spotted on set and who they are playing:

  • Marina Bye – Per the photos and reports, she’s set to play the bride. Her recent credits include Wonka and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.
  • Hannah Cruz – The American actress and Broadway star (Hamilton, Suffs, Chess) was reportedly seen filming a close scene with Simon Bird (Will).
  • Lisanne Falk – Best known for her iconic role as Heather McNamara in the 1988 cult classic Heathers (alongside Winona Ryder and Christian Slater), Falk appears to be a part of the American wedding/family group, potentially playing one of Jay’s new in-laws.
  • Marama Corlett – The actress, whose impressive genre credits include Black Mirror, His Dark Materials, and The Watch, is also joining the cast.
  • Tadhg Murphy – The Irish actor, known for his roles in Brassic, Vikings, Black Sails, and The Northman, has been cast in an undisclosed role.
  • Vanessa Eng – A new cast member pictured during the wedding scenes; her exact role currently remains unknown.

We’ve also identified, from the set pictures, Jack Staddon (House of the DragonSlow Horses) and Ewan Mitchell (Wuthering HeightsSaltburnHouse of the Dragon), with the latter appearing to play the priest.

What else do we know about The Inbetweeners 3?

Behind the camera, The Inbetweeners creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris have returned to write and direct the third film for Netflix.

On returning to the franchise, Beesley and Morris shared a joint statement in the initial Netflix press release: “It’s been super-fun hanging out with our friends again, and we’re going to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans.”

The film is being produced by Claire Jones alongside Banijay’s Patrick Holland and Fudge Park Production’s Mark Lesbirel. Executive producers on the project include Caroline Levy, Caroline Leddy, Phil Gilbert, Suzanne Knight, Tom Jordan, Farhana Bhula, as well as Morris and Beesley.

For those needing a refresher, The Inbetweeners originally broadcast on Channel 4 between 2008 and 2010. It followed the misadventures of suburban teenager Will McKenzie and his friends Simon, Neil, and Jay at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive as they navigated school life, friendship, and largely failed sexual encounters.

Over three series, it set new ratings records for the channel and won multiple awards. Two hugely successful Film4-backed movies followed, released in 2011 and 2014. The first went straight in at No. 1 at the box office and set a record for the biggest opening weekend for a UK comedy at the time of its release, with the Australia-set sequel also breaking box office records.
