Tyler Perry has two more projects lined up for Netflix: The Gospel of Christmas and Tis So Sweet. Filming is due to get underway on the projects soon at Tyler Perry’s Atlanta-based production, Tyler Perry Studios.
Over the past several years, Tyler Perry has been one of Netflix’s most frequent collaborators, having produced television shows such as Beauty in Black and Miss Governor, as well as several movies, including Mea Culpa, The Six Triple Eight, A Jazzman’s Blues, A Fall from Grace, and Straw. Not to mention the upcoming film Ruth & Boaz.
Suffice to say, Perry has been incredibly busy producing and often directing projects for Netflix.

There are two more projects from Tyler Perry Studios in development for Netflix: The Gospel of Christmas and Tis So Sweet, the latter of which Perry will direct. As for the latter, Perry is listed to produce the feature alongside DeVon Franklin.
Both films will be shot in Atlanta, where Perry’s production studio, Tyler Perry Studios, is based.
What are the plots of Tyler Perry’s upcoming projects?
Production Weekly has provided a synopsis for both projects.
First for The Gospel of Christmas:
“A young pastor trying to live up to his father’s legacy, relocates his wife and sons from Georgia to New York to save a dying church with a little help from his guardian angels.”
Second for Tis So Sweet:
“Lenore is a happily married woman who’s found security in her job as an accountant with a big company. But when at age 55 she doesn’t get the promotion she’s been hoping for, she decides it’s time to do something she’s always wanted to do-open her own bakery, where she finds true happiness.”
When does production begin?
As reported in issue 1474 of Production Weekly, filming for Tis So Sweet is scheduled to get underway on November 17, 2025 which will shoot for around a month before ending on December 16, 2025.
As for The Gospel of Christmas there isn’t an official start date for filming, but a date listed on Production Weekly for October 20 suggests filming could get underway soon.
Filming dates are subject to change.
When will the films be released on Netflix?
At the time of writing there is no confirmation on when either film will be coming to Netflix.
Givien the filming date for Tis So Sweet we would expect to see the film on Netflix in late 2026 or early 2027.
As for The Gospel of Christmas we would expect to see the film land on Netflix sometime in either November or December 2026.
