Anime on Netflix is a growing medium and has been attributed to growing the fanbase in the US. Naruto is one of the biggest anime series of all time and one of the best too. The series started off as a manga series in 1999 before quickly being developed into television and movies several years later.
The premise of the manga/anime/movies is simple. Naruto is a young ninja training to become a Hokage. Known for it’s over the top action sequences, it’s cemented itself as one of the most recognizable animes of all time. It’s relatively new to Netflix though so what we’re going to do below is give you a summary of what Naruto titles are streaming when new seasons will be available and where you can stream the other missing titles.
Naruto Series on Netflix
Naruto is a relative newcomer to the Netflix library. The first listing we had was back in May 2016 with all three seasons added on the 1st of the month. That means you currently have 156 episodes to binge through.
Netflix Canada also currently carries three seasons of the anime.
Japan, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia currently carry four seasons of the show. So for fans in the west, you’ll will be patiently waiting at this point for season 4 of the anime series to come to Netflix. Let’s take a look as to when that might happen.
When will Season 4 come to Netflix?
This is the big important question but some people may have noticed that season 4 did quietly drop on Netflix US before being quickly removed. This was likely a mistake on Netflix’s part but does give us hope that it’s coming. Because of licensing restrictions, Netflix can only put the show up on the service once it’s been approved by the license holder.
Given how many shows on Netflix renew in a yearly fashion, it’s most likely that season 4 will be coming to Netflix US in May 2017.
What about Naruto Shippuden?
If you’re in Canada you’re able to stream four seasons of the 2007 series. Those in the United States, though, won’t be found on Netflix anytime soon as Crunchyroll currently hold the license.
Naruto Movies on Netflix
The series is fantastic but just as good are the movies that have been produced for Naruto. Here’s a breakdown of the Naruto movies streaming in various Netflix regions.
In Canada, Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds (2008) and Naruto Shippuden: The Movie (2007) are streaming.
In Australia and New Zealand you’ll find Naruto the Movie 2: Legend of the Stone of Gelel (2005) streaming.
Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (2004), Naruto the Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom (2006) and Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire (2009) aren’t currently streaming in any English speaking regions.
