Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be leaving Netflix in the United States and Canada in May 2019 having streamed on the service for a year and a half. Here’s why it’s leaving and where it’ll likely end up streaming next.
The sequel to the highly successful Guardians of the Galaxy released in cinemas back in 2017 and fortunately released within the highly talked about Disney and Netflix contract which runs between 2016 and 2019.
Netflix in both the United States and Canada saw the release of the title on Netflix on December 5th, 2017. But as with all Disney movies, they all have to leave eventually and the movies are made available for a year and a half.
The removal date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is May 5th, 2019
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 saw Starlord meet his father for the first time along with his gang of guardians. Once again, James Gunn took to writing and directing and it paid off. A third movie has been commissioned but without James Gunn and is likely coming out in 2021.
All the other Marvel movies are up for removal too with the exception of the animated titles which are dealt with separately. This includes Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Infinity War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Where will Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 be streaming next?
The logical conclusion, as with the other Disney movies leaving soon is that they’ll end up on the new Disney streaming service coming out at the end of 2019.
For Canadians and Americans, you’ll still be able to catch the guardians in the latest Avengers movie called Infinity War for at least another year and several months after it was added to Netflix over the holiday season in 2018.
Netflixers in the United Kingdom have nothing to fear just yet as you’ve only just got a hold of the movie. It’ll be at least another year or so until GoTG Vol 2 will leave Netflix.
