Another Netflix Original series is up for removal from the service over the next few weeks as the British limited crime series River is scheduled for removal on November 18th, 2019.

River, for those who haven’t seen it, is a limited series that features top talents including Stellan Skarsgård (as recently seen in Chernobyl), Nicola Walker, Adeel Akhtar, Lesley Manville and Eddie Marsan.

In the series, we follow John River who is a detective in London who is trapped between the living and the dead.

The six-part series isn’t technically a full Netflix Original. The BBC in the United Kingdom produced and first released the series. This is something we’ve covered in-depth before with their technically being four types of Netflix Original.

In the case of River, Netflix simply had the exclusive international streaming rights. This is going to be a shock going forward as we’ll be covering many titles in the future that leaves that fall under this category.

It’s also why The Fall, another series produced by the BBC but carrying the Netflix Original logo is leaving on October 29th.

Will River leave Netflix worldwide?

Essentially, yes. Everywhere that streams River will see the series depart on November 18th. That even includes the United Kingdom.

We don’t know exactly where the series could end up next although if we were betting, it’d likely be on BBC’s current (or upcoming if you live in the UK) service called Britbox.

For everyone who hasn’t seen this series, you should absolutely check it out before it departs and given it’s a short limited series, it could easily be consumed within a weekend.

We’ll let you know if anything changes but for now, we’re expecting the series to be removed indefinitely.
