Bojack Horseman – Netflix

Bojack Horseman is returning for a sixth and as we now know, the final season on Netflix throughout 2019 and into 2020. Here’s when the final episodes will be on Netflix and what we can expect from season 6 of Bojack Horseman.

Created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg Bojack Horseman is an adult animated comedy-drama series exclusive to Netflix.

The story is centered around the title character Bojack Horseman, a cynical washed-up star famous for his 90’s sitcom Horsin’ Around.

The show was given a sixth season on October 30th, 2018.

The show has been the recipient of multiple award wins and nominations since it first premiered on Netflix back in 2014 and is currently the longest-running animated sitcom on Netflix. The series once again was nominated for multiple awards including best animation.

Bojack Horseman Season 5 Recap

Bojack went through some hard times during season 5 and that’s putting it gently. Season 5 was the darkest season of the show so far by a country mile.

While Bojack has tried to become a better person over the course of the five seasons, life has always found a way to sabotage his progress.

Throughout the season we are shown the extent of BoJack’s addiction to painkillers. After losing the painkillers he had after Hollyhock flushed them down the toilet he tries to score more by driving head-on into traffic in the hope of injuring himself so he can get more painkillers.

His addiction culminates with him almost killing his co-star Gina after he blacks out from the meds. After nearly choking Gina to death she doesn’t choose to press charges in the fear of it defining her career. Diane tells BoJack that no one will hold him accountable, only he can do that himself.

As the season draws to a close BoJack attends rehab in the hope he can be helped with his painkiller addiction.

What to expect from Bojack Horseman season 6

With Bojack now in rehab, we expect to see a portion of the season dedicated to his time there. Some have speculated and wished for the whole season to be confined there with him looking to break out.

Some fans have speculated that Diane may be a casualty of season 6. It’s been foreshadowed for some time and the fact that Diane’s life hasn’t been going well could mean we see the big death of the show.

Todd’s season will likely include a similar amount of dallying around like previous seasons. We’re still waiting for Todd to finish his rock opera and with any luck, finally get his life together.

Princess Carolyn will be settling into this season with her new baby and it’ll be interesting to see how she adjusts a new mom.

Thanks to some new screenshots provided by Netflix, we get a first look into some of the scenarios we can expect from season 6.

Where is production on Bojack Horseman season 6?

We get a script from the writers, and then I start to pull visual references, things I think might be interesting. You know, inspiration. And then I show those to Raphael [Bob-Waksberg, BoJack creator]. Once I get the go-ahead from him, I talk to my board artists and assign out sequences, and we work on trying to make each part of the episode just as visually interesting as possible.

Speaking recently to ET Canada, Will Arnett didn’t clarify too much but did confirm that season 6 is of Bojack Horseman is definitely going to be released sometime in 2019. He also added that “we’re closing to being done” and that was back in May 2019.

When is the release date for season 6 of Bojack Horseman?

With production likely coming to an end, we’re expecting Bojack Horseman to return for season 6 in early Fall 2019. This was confirmed on September 27th, 2019 when it was announced that Bojack Horseman will be split into two halves for season 6.

Season 6 part 1 of Bojack Horseman will release on Netflix on October 25th, 2019 with part 2 of season 6 releasing on January 31st, 2019 (see more January 2020 releases).

Will there be a season 7 of Bojack Horseman?

Despite the show’s creator, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, expressing interest in continuing we now know that season 6 is due to be the final season of Bojack Horseman. In an interview, Raphael said:

“I won’t say as long as Netflix allows me to, because I don’t know where I’m going be, or what I’m going to be going, in the future. But as long as I feel like the show has promise, and Netflix allows us to, it’s a world that’s still worth expanding.”

Some of the cast members have begun saying goodbye to the character. Aaron Paul (who had just starred in El Camino on Netflix) said the following:
