Netflix Originals Coming to Netflix in January 2020

Can you believe it? We’re previewing the first batch of Netflix Originals due for release in the first month of 2020. It’s going to be a stellar month of new Originals so without further ado, here’s a look at what’s coming to Netflix in January 2020.

We’ll have a full 2020 preview towards the end of the year and it’s going to be absolutely stacked full of titles.

For now, here are the Netflix Originals currently due for release in January.


Anne with an E (Season 3)

Netflix Release Date: January 3rd
Exclusions: Does not include Netflix Canada

Anne with an E or as it’s shopped in Canada as Anne is your doorway into the world of Green Gables.

In season 3 of Anne with an E, we see Anne hit her sixteenth birthday which inspires her to look back at her past which includes information that she wasn’t anticipating.

It’s another stunning series of the show which has been well-received when it aired in Canada in late 2019 but despite that, season 3 has been confirmed to be the final season of Anne with an E.


AJ and the Queen (Season 1)

Netflix Release Date: January 10th

This comedy series is headlined by RuPaul who is a well-known drag queen. The series follows Ruby Red who is traveling across America in the 1990s with an orphan child.


A Fall From Grace

Netflix Release Date: January 17th

Tyler Perry’s next movie will be a Netflix movie and is set to feature a fantastic cast list including Crystal Fox, Phylicia Rashad, Bresha Webb, Cicely Tyson and Tyler Perry himself.

Here’s what the thriller is about:

When a law-abiding woman gets indicted for murdering her husband, her lawyer soon realizes that a larger conspiracy may be at work. A Tyler Perry film.


Ares (Season 1)

Netflix Release Date: January 17th

Ares is the first full Netflix Original production from the Netherlands.

It’s a supernatural horror/drama series that sees some top actors from the region appear. Here’s what you can expect:

A secret student society in the heart of Amsterdam where best friends Rosa and Jacob surrender to a world of wealth and power. But slowly they start to realize they’ve entered a demonic place, built on secrets from The Netherlands’ past. A place where true power comes at a terrible price.


Nailed It! Germany (Season 1)

Netflix Release Date: January 17th

Nailed It! has seen multiple regional spin-offs which both the French and Spanish versions releasing in November 2019.

In January 2020, the year will be kicking off with the German version of the baking show.


Sex Education (Season 2)

Netflix Release Date: January 17th

The comedy series featuring Gillian Anderson is headed back for a second season in January 2020 and it’s highly anticipated.


Bojack Horseman (Season 6 – Part 2)

Netflix Release Date: January 31st

It’s the end for Bojack Horseman. Part 1 of the final season released on October 25th with the final part of the black comedy animated show due out for the end of January.

Ragnarok (Season 1)

Netflix Release Date: January 31st

A new Norwegian coming-of-age supernatural drama.


Grace and Frankie (Season 6)

Netflix Release Date: TBD

Netflix’s biggest comedy that’s from the creator of Friends continues its long reign on Netflix and hopefully keeps up the quality that the series is known for.

We’ll once again be catching up with Grace & Frankie who have been living their lives to the fullest since the breaking up of their long term relationships.

The release of the sixth season will also be somewhat bittersweet given it’s the penultimate season for Grace and Frankie. Season 7 which will likely come out in January 2021 is set to be the last.
