It looks like Netflix is expanding its celebrity documentary lineup with a brand new project centered around ’80s icon and beloved actor Rob Lowe. The news comes straight from the source himself, with Lowe letting slip that an unannounced documentary about his life is slated to hit Netflix on November 24th.
While appearing on Barstool Sports’ Chicks in the Office podcast to promote his indie comedy The Musical, Lowe was asked by the host if we would ever get a documentary chronicling the wild 1980s nights when the “Brat Pack” met the “Rat Pack.”
Lowe couldn’t offer a documentary on just that specific night, but he did drop a massive piece of news for his fans.
“It hasn’t been officially announced, but I believe November 24th Netflix is going to release a documentary on my life,” Lowe revealed.
When the host joked that Netflix might force them to cut the audio, Lowe casually replied, “But you asked.”
What to Expect from the Rob Lowe Documentary
What can fans expect from the upcoming feature? According to Lowe, the documentary will dive deep into his decades-spanning career, heavily utilizing incredible, never-before-seen archival footage.
“You know what is fun is the archival footage that they’ve discovered,” Lowe noted. He specifically teased that the documentary will feature original auditions for The Outsiders, behind-the-scenes clips from the sets of his classic movies, and even footage of him making talk show appearances as a baby. The film will also touch on his time as a member of the Brat Pack, the realities of 1980s fame without cell phones or social media, and his 36-year sobriety journey.

This upcoming documentary adds to a great roster of Rob Lowe projects already available to stream on Netflix right now.
Fans can currently catch him starring alongside his real-life son, John Owen Lowe, in the hit scripted workplace comedy series Unstable. (Fun fact: John Owen is heavily mentioned in the podcast interview as well, with Lowe joking about how his son made a cottage industry out of poking fun at his famous dad!) That series ultimately ran two seasons before Netflix called time.
If you prefer his voiceover work, Lowe also recently narrated the heartwarming feature-length documentary Inside the Mind of a Dog, which premiered on Netflix in August 2024.
