Teach You a Lesson has been a huge hit for Netflix! With fans already clamoring for a second season, we have an update on the renewal status for the series, with Netflix confirming that nothing has been decided as of yet, but director Hong Jong Chan is eager to return to direct a second season. Given the show’s success, it feels like it will only be a matter of time before renewal is confirmed. Here’s everything we know so far about the Teach You a Lesson season 2 on Netflix.
Teach You a Lesson is a South Korean Netflix Original action K-drama series, adapted from the popular webtoon Get Schooled by author Chae Yong Taek and illustrator Han Ga Ram. The series was directed by Hong Jong Chan (Juvenile Justice) and written by Lam Nam Gyu (Daily Dose of Sunshine).

Teach You a Lesson Season 2 Renewal Status

At the time of writing, Teach You a Lesson has not been renewed for a second season. However, we do have an update on what has been said about renewal. The series director, Hong Jong Chan, previously made a comment about the success of Teach You a Lesson and the possibility of a second season in an interview in South Korea:
“It doesn’t feel real to me. There are still many stories left to tell from the school setting. If it becomes even more successful, I’ll come back with season 2.”
His words sparked many online rumors that Netflix was in talks to renew the series for a second season, but a Netflix spokesperson clarified that “nothing has been decided.” So, while nothing has been decided yet, the series’ success cannot be ignored, and, given the director’s own words, a second season is very much possible.
Since the series was released on Netflix on June 5, 2026, it has spent the past 7 weeks in Netflix’s global Non-English Language top 10 list, spending 4 weeks at number 1 and amassing 618.9 million viewing hours, which equates to 57.8 million completed views.

When compared to other Netflix Original K-dramas released so far in 2026, Teach You a Lesson is the clear winner, with almost triple the number of viewers of its closest competitor, Can This Love Be Translated?, and almost as much viewership as the next 3 combined.
As a certified smash hit on Netflix, surely it’s only a matter of time before the streaming service renews the series for a second season.

How much of the webtoon has Teach You a Lesson adapted?
Unlike other webtoon adaptations, such as Reactivated Agent Kim, Teach You a Lesson is not a 1-for-1 adaptation. Instead, the series has opted to cherry-pick specific story arcs (or cases) from the webtoon, with each episode presented as a separate case.
With 250 chapters of the webtoon to adapt, there’s a whole bunch of source material to draw on for future seasons. As the series is not a 1-for-1 adaptation, screenwriter Lee Nam Gyu could also add any original cases and take creative liberties with the story.

When can we expect to see Teach You a Lesson season 2 on Netflix?
Speculating on a release date for Teach You a Lesson is heavily dependent on how long it takes for the series to be renewed and how soon the second season can enter production.
The first season spent 6 months in production between March 2025 and September 2025, and took a further 9 months to be released on Netflix. As it stands, if the second season can enter production before the end of 2026, then we could see a late 2027 release on the streaming service. However, given Netflix’s scheduling of K-drama content, a 2028 release is far more realistic.
