With The Vampire Diaries now wrapped up and available on Netflix, many are wondering when season 4 of The Originals is coming to Netflix. We have great news as The Originals is also part of the new contract which brings new CW shows early to Netflix, so let’s take a look when we are streaming the new season.
If you’re a fan of The Vampire Diaries, then the chances are you’ve come across The Originals as it’s a spin-off from the main show. The premise of the show expands on one of the families you meet during The Vampire Diaries.
The show has been a fan-favorite but never quite achieved the same level of popularity as its parent show The Vampire Diaries or closely related Supernatural.

The Originals Season 4 Netflix US Release
As we mentioned above, The Originals is now covered within the brand new CW contract which was struck between Netflix and the network last year. In the new contract, it states that we’ll be getting brand new seasons of shows long before normal and around a week after the show wraps up.
Season 4 began on March 17th, 2017 with it currently scheduled to end after a shorter 13 episodes in mid-June 2017. We can then predict that it’ll arrive either in the last two weeks of June or the first week of July.
The Originals Season 4 Netflix UK Release
The UK sadly isn’t part of this contract but thankfully have been getting season updates every year. Last year, season 3 was added to Netflix in August, and we suspect we’ll have the latest season by August 2017.
The Originals Season 5 Netflix Original?
Given the series has shortened its fourth season down from 22 episodes to 13 and with the finishing of The Vampire Diaries, some have speculated that we’ll be saying goodbye to The Originals after Episode 13 wraps up. Given these rumors, campaigns have already started for Netflix to pick up the show and continue it as one of their Originals. At this point in time we’ve heard no concrete proof that they’re looking into this but given how close Netflix and The CW seem to be, never say never.
