Did Netflix Remove Its Removals Category

Just late last year, we excitedly reported on what felt like a long-overdue addition to the Netflix platform: a dedicated “Last Chance to Watch” category. Using the category code 82120713, the feature finally grouped together the movies and series set to depart the service in the near future. While we noted at the time that the list wasn’t completely perfect, it was a fantastic tool for those of us who like to prioritize our watchlists based on what’s leaving next.

Now, less than a year after it was introduced, Netflix has officially pulled the plug on the handy feature, at least in that iteration.

Throughout this month, users began to notice the beloved category disappearing from the platform. We received numerous messages and comments from confused subscribers. One user summed up the ongoing issue perfectly in the July removals post:

“Seems the Leaving Soon code of 82120713 is not working on Netflix. When I try it I get ‘No matching titles found.’ Any info if they removed or changed the category code? Or is it maybe (hopefully) just temporary glitch?”

Hoping it was indeed just a glitch, we reached out to Netflix directly for clarification. Unfortunately, they confirmed to us that the 82120713 category code has been removed, with another one set up in its place, in addition to title removals being searchable.

How to Find Movies and Series Leaving Netflix Soon

So how can you still track down titles that are on the chopping block within the app? You have two native alternatives:

1. Search “Last Chance”

You can simply type “Last Chance” directly into the Netflix search box. Because “Leaving Soon” still functions as an active backend tag, this will bring up a selection of titles that are scheduled to exit the library shortly.

2. The Alternative Category Code (82968030)

There is another active category code you can use: 82968030. While this link will take you to a “Leaving Soon” page, it comes with a few caveats. Namely, it doesn’t list quite everything. Furthermore, rather than displaying a complete, easy-to-browse A-Z grid of departing titles as the old code did, it sorts the departing content into horizontal rows such as Hollywood Films, Gems for You, and, actually, quite handily, anything in your My List. It’s better than nothing, but it definitely lacks the clean A-Z layout of the original. As you may know, Netflix has discontinued A-Z sorting on its website

Updated Last Chance To Watch Screen

Netflix is constantly tweaking its user interface, adding and removing categories as they experiment with how users discover content. While it’s disappointing to see this specific category code disappear so soon after its introduction, you won’t be completely left in the dark.

As always, we’ll continue to do the heavy lifting for you. You can continue to find our comprehensive, up-to-date roundups of everything leaving Netflix—both in the US and the UK—right here on What’s on Netflix. We update our departing lists throughout the month, sorted chronologically by removal date, so you’ll never miss your chance to watch before a title is gone.
