Happy Friday, and we hope you’re September is going well so far. This week, Netflix had a bumper week of new arrivals with 98 new movies and series dropping, including 80 movies and 18 series. Topping the US charts are My Life with the Walter Boys and Unknown Number: The High School Catfish.

Quick housekeeping before we dig in! If you missed any of the new arrivals from last week for Labor Day, you can revisit those here. Still lots to look forward to throughout the remainder of September, and we’ve just updated our full preview with new titles. Furthermore, you can find an early look ahead at what’s coming up in October here.

What to Watch on Netflix This Weekend

Wednesday (Season 2 – Part 2)

Number of episodes: 4
Rating: TV-14
Language: English
Genre: Comedy, Crime, Fantasy
Cast: Jenna Ortega, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers

We’ll begin our recommendations this week with the obvious one: Wednesday is back! The final four episodes of the second season couldn’t have arrived at a better time, given the stir the first batch caused in the fanbase upon its release last month in August. This second batch of episodes had plenty of cards up its sleeves, with two huge new and returning cast members plus a big body swap episode plus all the other things you’ve come to love about the show.

Franklin & Bash (Seasons 1-4)

Number of episodes: 40
Rating: TV-14
Language: English
Genre: Comedy, Crime, Drama
Cast: Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Breckin Meyer, Reed Diamond
Writer: Bill Chais, Kevin Falls
Runtime: 60 min / 1h 0m

Franklin Bash To Join Netflix

Picture: TNT

One of the licensed shows that touched down on September 1st was Franklin & Bash, which has only just begun appearing in the top 10s following its addition, and fingers crossed it builds some more momentum in the days to come. Airing on TNT, which has largely exited the scripted space in recent years, between 2011 and 2014, the highly underrated legal comedy drama followed two unconventional lawyers and longtime friends who, after unexpectedly winning a major case, are recruited to save an ailing firm.

There are 40 episodes to binge through, and thanks to solid performances from Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, they’re an absolute breeze. While the show was canceled, the show ultimately ended in a pretty good spot, meaning you won’t feel like a hole missing from your heart once you get to the end.

Cold Pursuit (2019)

Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Action, Comedy, Crime
Director: Hans Petter Moland
Cast: Liam Neeson, Laura Dern, Micheál Neeson
Writer: Frank Baldwin, Kim Fupz Aakeson
Runtime: 119 min / 1h 59m

Looking for an action movie? You can go on a Liam Neeson binge on Netflix right now, and we’d recommend starting with Cold Pursuit. Filmed across multiple continents, the film serves as a remake of a 2014 Norwegian film with the film centering on a father going to great lengths to find out the mysterious circumstances around his son’s death.

This is one of four Liam Neeson movies that dropped on the first of the month, with the others being Battleship, Non-Stop, and The Grey. Of course, as we’ve already reported, his new movie Ice Road: Vengeance is going to make its streaming video on demand debut on Netflix for the first time later this month.

Redeeming Love (2022)

Coming to Netflix: Sunday (September 7th)

Finally, looking ahead to this weekend’s new drops, which will see the 2016 animated film Leap! join alongside the highly anticipated new anime series The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity, we’re going to highlight the 2022 Universal Pictures romance/western film Redeeming Love. This marks the first time the movie has streamed on Netflix in the US.

Based on the Francine Rivers novel from the early 1990s, the movie, headlined by Abigail Cowen and Tom Lewis, serves as a retelling of the biblical book of Hosea set against the backdrop of the California Gold Rush of 1850.

My Life With The Walter Boys Season 3

Picture: Netflix

Unsurprisingly, season 2 of My Life with the Walter Boys, which saw a big boost in global viewership over season 1, remained atop the charts in the US throughout the week, unseating Katrina: Come Hell and High Water. That’ll be short-lived, we suspect, given that Wednesday is back on the scene.

  1. My Life with the Walter Boys (45 points)
  2. Katrina: Come Hell and High Water (44 points)
  3. Wednesday (42 points)
  4. Two Graves (34 points)
  5. Hostage (28 points)
