1. My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 vs Season 1
The big new series of the week demonstrates why Netflix had enough faith to order a season 3 well ahead of season 2 airing. My Life with the Walter Boys views grew 57% season over season, debuting with 88M hours watched, equating to 11.8M views.

How does My Life with the Walter Boys compare to other 2025 series premieres on Thursdays? Pretty well. It’s in the top third but notably beloww XO, Kitty and Ginny and Georgia, but comfortably ahead of some of the big debuts for this year and certainly ahead of returning shows that got canceled. Put another way, Netflix was right to renew this one for a season 3 ahead of time.

2. KPop Demon Hunters Grows 18% With The Sing-Along Re-Release
Last week, KPop Demon Hunters became Netflix’s most-watched movie in its history, finally unseating Red Notice after many years of it looking like it would be untouchable. Along with that record being broken, Netflix released it in theaters for a limited event with a Sing-along version, which then dropped on Netflix the following Monday.
That’s resulted in a 30% rise in viewing hours this week, a truly unprecedented feat, but that’s because Netflix is combining the primary movie viewership and the Sing-Along, which has been charting in the daily top 10s seperately, and Sing-Along versions have previously been treated seperately in the Netflix Engagement Reports (see My Little Pony).
Still, Netflix has opted to combine them all for these numbers. We’ve got clarification that the 91-day number will start from the release in June.
Here’s the updated chart for the movie, comparing it against Netflix’s previous big hitters, which now look comparatively small…

3. The Thursday Murder Club
For the most part, Netflix releases its English-language scripted movies on Fridays, but an exception, of course, had to be made for The Thursday Murder Club, given its name, and it was released on a Thursday. The Richard Osman adaptation did pick up a slew of good reviews, but how did it do viewership-wise? It debuted with 49.3M hours watched, which equates to 24.7M views.
Given its unusual release date, doing exact comps isn’t the easiest, as there aren’t too many films to compare it to, as they’re mostly rom-coms, but here goes:

Pretty good! But what if we were to break the rules and compare it against movies released on a Friday this year? Where does it stack up? Somewhere right in the middle, which, given it had an extra day (Netflix’s numbers run through Sunday), could be viewed as a little disappointing.

4. With Love, Meghan Flops
Picture: Netflix
Season 2 of With Love, Meghan didn’t come out of the gate swinging this week. It failed to crack the global top 10, meaning it drew less than 2.1M views for its opening week, and worse still, it only broke into the daily top 10s in Australia for 1 day on August 29th at position 10. It’s also featured in the Shri Lankan top 10 for 5 days. It’s not featured in any other country’s daily top 10s.
Netflix got ahead of this viewership news with a “soft” renewal of their overall deal with Meghan and Harry’s production company. A holiday special for the show is still to come in 2025.
5. Unknown Number: The High School Catfish
True-crime is still big. Who knew!? A solid debut for the new Skye Borgman doc (Abducted in Plain Sight, Girl in the Picture) covering the story of a teen girl and her boyfriend who face persistent harassment from an unknown caller We’re seeing several TikToks and other social posts going viral for this documentary so we’re probably going to see an impressive rise in viewership in week 1.

6. Katrina: Come Hell and High Water
To mark the 20th anniversary of the devastating Hurricane Katrina, Netflix released a limited series produced by Spike Lee. Naturally, the viewership is heavily skewed to the US, where it’s been number 1 every day since its release, although it has featured in the top 10s around the globe.

7. Two Graves
Netflix Spain has a massive hit on its hands with Two Graves, which is only bested in recent years by Berlin and Money Heist. There’s a connection there which could explain it, given that the Professor (Álvaro Morte) stars in both titles. Netflix lists the show as a limited series, but given the numbers so far, fingers crossed that could change.

9. Bon Appétit Your Majesty is quietly crushing it in the weekly top 10s
Last week, Frederic pointed out in his newsletter how Bon Appétit, Your Majesty had a huge start on Netflix and that’s continued in week 2, putting a clear distance between it and some of the other weekly K-dramas that have dropped on Netflix in recent years. Views grew from 3.5M to 8.1M in week two and we expect a great long run in the weeks to come.
