Ricky Gervais is back on Netflix, and this time, he’s bringing some feline friends. Following our initial report of the project’s existence back in September 2025, Netflix has steadily dropped new first looks and intel, but now we’re getting our best look yet. They’ve just dropped the first trailer, plus a brand-new batch of first-look images.

The all-new adult animated comedy series is set to drop globally on Netflix on Friday, August 7th, 2026.

Coming from Emmy and BAFTA award-winning creator Ricky Gervais (After LifeExtrasThe Office), the series follows the trials and tribulations of a group of feral British cats from all walks of society. As they seek companionship, they ruminate on the struggles and absurdities of everyday life. Fans of Gervais can expect his signature blend of heartfelt moments and biting social commentary.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a trailer. I can’t wait for everyone to get to know these cats,” Gervais said in a statement accompanying the release.

First Look at Alley Cats

Alongside the trailer, Netflix has unveiled a slate of first-look images that show off the series’ striking and bold 2D animation style. The animation is being handled by the UK-based award-winning studio Blink Industries, the brilliant minds behind Netflix’s Dead End: Paranormal Park and the viral sensation Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared.

The new images give us a fantastic look at the diverse, scruffy, and hilarious cast of street cats we’ll be following—including a very funny shot of the tough-looking gang being completely terrified of a random cucumber on the pavement, a fat orange tabby casually strolling away from a car crash, and the crew lounging on a heavily scratched-up sofa.

For lucky fans attending the Annecy International Animation Film Festival later this week, Ricky Gervais will be making an appearance on Thursday, June 25th. He will be participating in a discussion about the upcoming series, and Netflix will be treating attendees to a world-exclusive sneak peek of the first two episodes ahead of its August premiere.
