The cult crime saga Blood Coast (Pax Massilia) has kept a steady pace of production ever since it premiered in late 2024. Here is everything we know about the return of the French series.

As one of the few—for now—confirmed returning French series in the lineup, alongside Lupin and The Cage, Marseille-based saga Blood Coast has struck a nerve with French subscribers. Even if global ratings fail to reflect the impact made, the niche audience it found is committed enough for the streamer to bring it back… and also keep its longstanding relationship with the city of Marseille as a fertile ground: 2025’s Young Millionaires and the Ciryl Gane action movie K.O. were shot there, not to mention Netflix’s very first French series, Marseille. And, last January, it was confirmed that the story of Lyès (Tewfik Jallab) and his squad would not stop there: Blood Coast would return for its third season.

Who is returning from Season 2?

An official cast list has not been revealed; however, it is understood from Instagram posts, an official post from Gaumont Télévision head Isabelle Degeorges, and an interview in Télé Loisirs that most of the main cast would return. They include:

  • Tewfik Jallab as Lyès
  • Jeanne Goursaud as Alice Vidal
  • Lani Sogouyou as Audrey
  • Olivier Barthélémy as Arno Cabella
  • Idir Azougli as Tatoo
  • Diouc Koma as Victor Miranda
  • Florence Thomassin as Marion Fabiani

Plot details are unavailable, save for this interesting detail teased by Olivier Marchal himself in March, in Télé Loisirs: “We will shoot part of the season abroad, but I can’t tell you more.”

Olivier Marchal is set to direct the first three episodes, with director Ivan Fegyvères for the remainder of the season. On the writing side, alongside Marchal, co-creators Kamel Guemra, Sledge Bidounga, and Morade Aissaoui are expected to return.

When Is Season 3 Expected To Release?

The first two seasons were released in December, but according to a recent interview with Olivier Marchal in La Provence, we learned that Season 3 is now expected to release in 2027. The shoot occurred in the area of Marseille (and, we believe, in an undisclosed country) earlier this year and wrapped in June, according to a post by Gaumont Télévision head Isabelle Degeorges. It is anyone’s guess whether there is more to come, but as ever, Olivier Marchal is an open book on his agenda; he revealed he was in pre-production for a movie about World War I to shoot from February 2027. That may put a wrinkle in the potential return of the series should it be renewed, as Netflix will wait for the availability of its co-creator, co-writer, and main director to produce more Blood Coast.
