The Untitled Newfoundland Project (title yet to be revealed) is an upcoming Netflix Original series led by showrunner Jesse McKeown. Directing duties are split between Jamie Childs, Stephen Dunn, and Helen Shaver. The series is co-written by Jesse McKeown, with Perry Chafe, Karen Walton, and Natty Zavitz.
McKeown, Josh Hartnett, and Jessica Rhodes are executive producers on the series through the company Pacesetter UK. Meanwhile, Chris Hatcher, Jamie Childs, Louise Sutton, and Sharon Hall are also executive producers.
What is the plot of Netflix’s Untitled Newfoundland Project?

“Set in Newfoundland, which is about a mysterious sea creature terrorizing a remote seaside town, with a hard-bitten fisherman having to fight to protect his family, his community and his vanishing way of life.”
Who are the cast members of Netflix’s Untitled Newfoundland Project?
Three actors have been confirmed for the limited series so far: Josh Hartnett, Mackenzie Davis, and Charlie Heaton.
Josh Hartnett has only one acting credit to his name for a Netflix project, and that was in Black Mirror season 6, when he played the role of David Ross in Beyond the Sea. Hartnett’s recent roles have included starring in the series The Bear and films such as Fight or Flight, Trap, and Oppenheimer.

Mackenzie Davis has starred in two of Netflix’s most popular anthology shows, Black Mirror and Love, Death, and Robots. She recently starred in Speak No Evil and is most well-known for her roles in films such as Terminator: Dark Fate, Blade Runner 2049, and Tully.

Charlie Heaton is most familiar to Netflix subscribers thanks to his role as Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things. Outside of Netflix, he has starred in films such as Marrowbone, The New Mutants, No Future, and The Souvenir: Part 2.

What is the production status of the new Untitled Newfoundland Project for Netflix??
As reported in issue 1460 of Production Weekly, filming began on the limited series on July 2, 2025, in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Filming is currently scheduled to wrap by October 12, 2025.

There will be a total of six episodes.
When is the Untitled Newfoundland Project coming to Netflix?
With filming now underway, the series is expected to be released on Netflix sometime in the second half of 2026. For now, we await further updates from Netflix.
