One of Netflix’s most acclaimed international action-thrillers is officially making its long-awaited return. Fauda Season 5 will finally roll out on Netflix globally on September 8th, 2026 The gripping Israeli television series, created by Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, first took the world by storm in 2015. Drawing from the creators’ real-world experiences, the intense counter-terrorism drama has become a massive, award-winning hit for Netflix. With the fourth season ending on a nail-biting cliffhanger back in 2022—leaving the fate of Doron and his team hanging in the balance—fans have been waiting years for news on the show’s return. After premiering its 11-episode fifth season in Israel on the Yes network earlier this year on May 18th, Netflix has now officially slated the global drop for September 8th, 2026. The release date was just confirmed by Lior Raz on social media. Here is everything you need to know about the highly anticipated fifth season of Fauda.

A Completely Rewritten Script

Production for Fauda Season 5 faced unprecedented challenges and a massive creative shift. Creators Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff reportedly had a completed script ready to go in 2023. However, following the October 7th attacks, the creators completely scrapped the original storyline. Raz and Issacharoff took the time to rewrite the season to reflect the events and aftermath of the attacks, anchoring the new season in real-life trauma and the ongoing conflict. Raz has described this upcoming outing as a “blood-revenge season,” largely inspired by real stories. Because of this, Season 5 is expected to be the most personal, raw, and heavy chapter of the series to date.

Cast: Who is returning and who is new?

Returning mainstays include:
    • Lior Raz as Doron Kavillio
    • Itzik Cohen as Captain Ayub
    • Doron Ben-David as Steve
    • Yaakov Zada Daniel as Eli
    • Lucy Ayoub as Maya
French actress Mélanie Laurent, widely known for her roles in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and the Netflix action film 6 Underground (where she previously worked with Lior Raz), joins the cast for Season 5. Actor and singer Idan Amedi (who plays Sagi) will unfortunately not be returning as a series regular. Amedi was called up for IDF reserve duty during the Gaza war and was severely injured in combat in early 2024. Although he has since recovered, he is currently focusing on his music career and rehabilitation rather than acting. Filming was originally scheduled to take place in Marseille, but production was ultimately relocated to Budapest, Hungary, to ensure the safety of the cast and crew. The new season is directed by Omri Givon (Hostages) and written by Omri Shenhar (Tehran), with production by Yes TV and L. Benasuly Productions. Yes Studios is once again handling international distribution. Are you looking forward to watching Fauda Season 5 when it drops on Netflix globally this September? Let us know in the comments below!
