Netflix in the US has massively ramped up its licensing efforts in the past few years, but for the most part, the shows that have dropped have been released relatively recently. Classic TV from before 2000 is often omitted from licensing schedules, but an exception has been made with all nine seasons of the classic CBS show Touched by an Angel landing on Netflix in the US today for a limited time.
On the air for nearly a decade, the series ran for 211 episodes in total between 1994 and 2003 with a rotating cast and audiences that just turned up week after week. Created by John Masius and executive produced by Martha Williamson, the faith-based series follows a newly promoted angel who teams up with her supervisor to guide troubled souls on Earth through hardships and help them better their lives.
We’ve known that this series would be joining the Netflix roster at some point, although when we reached out to Netflix, they did not respond to a request for additional clarification. We had heard it’d be coming sometime between mid-July and mid-August, but the answer was slap bam in the middle!

- Jasmine Guy (A Different World) as Kathleen, a fallen angel
- Celeste Holm (All About Eve) as Hattie Greene
- Wynonna Judd (The Judds) as Audrey Carmichael
- Eddie Karr (Grosse Pointe) as Nathaniel Greene
- Cloris Leachman (The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Ruth, an archangel
- Gerald McRaney (Major Dad) as Russell Greene and Dr. Joe Patcherik
- Wendy Phillips (Falcon Crest) as Claire Greene and Ruth Ann Russell
- Charles Rocket (Saturday Night Live) as Adam, an angel of death
- Marion Ross (Happy Days) as Sophie and Emma
- Randy Travis (Black Dog) as Wayne Machulis and Jed Winslow
- Paul Winfield (Sounder) as Sam, an archangel and Andrew’s supervisor
- Paul Wittenburg (The Division) as Joey Machulis
The series is presented on Netflix in HD throughout (with all episodes available), although the earlier seasons are presented in their original 4:3 aspect ratio, with later seasons expanding that ratio.
Netflix has licensed the series on a two-year basis, meaning that you have through July 31st, 2027, to watch the series in full. Netflix isn’t the only streaming service with Touched by an Angel right now. It’s widely available across other platforms such as Hallmark+, Pluto TV, and Paramount+ (per JustWatch).
