After controversially dropping one episode in March 2026 for Steel Ball Run, the latest entry in the beloved JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise, fans were dismayed. The intense backlash prompted Netflix to act, with news that the series would continue with brand-new weekly episodes. The release date has been set, and Steel Ball Run will continue from September 25, 2026.
Steel Ball Run is the seventh arc of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure manga from author Hirohiko Araki. The series takes place after the events of Stone Ocean and is set in a brand-new continuity that exists outside the first six arcs. Its manga serialization ran from January 19th, 2004, to April 19th, 2011, for a total of 95 chapters and 24 volumes.
As Steel Ball Run is one of the most beloved arcs of the entire franchise, fans were super excited for its anime adaptation. However, when only one episode of Steel Ball Run dropped on Netflix in March 2026, fans sprang into action to let their disappointment be known that one long episode wasn’t good enough, and when/where is the weekly release?
In April 2026, Netflix confirmed that new weekly episodes would arrive in Fall 2026, and a recent update confirms when the next batch of episodes will come to the streaming service: September 25, 2026.
The next batch of episodes will cover the events of the 2nd and 3rd stages of Steel Ball Run. Netflix has also confirmed that there will be 11 new episodes in total, which means there will be weekly episodes until December 4, 2026.
Netflix has dropped an updated synopsis for the series:
“Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli take on a grueling long-distance stage across the desert. From a cowboy pursuing the culprit behind a sudden mysterious murder, to a figure wielding immense power… Look forward to the new characters making their debut in the 2nd STAGE!
A desert crossing spanning roughly 750 miles- The land that Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli must challenge, is home to the area that is feared as the “Devil’s Palm.” As ominous incidents begin to unfold, they are forced to realize that this race is far more than a mere competition. The two press forward into the 2nd STAGE of the 9 STAGES, where countless hidden motives collide.”
