One of Netflix’s most anticipated series is also one of its most secretive ones, as the streamer itself has released extremely little official information about The Sandman. In fact, since the initial renewal plus the official picture that filming had restarted, everything has been quiet. The fandom somewhat mitigated that, which has slowly uncovered things about the new season.
For instance, we had the titles of the first six episodes of The Sandman Season 2, and earlier, we had a large cast update with nine new names. Today, we also have a cast update, but it is a special one. This time, it’s Loki, a very anticipated character in The Sandman.
You may remember we first reported that Loki was due to appear in the show from an earlier update we did that looked into the various norse gods that will feature. Of course, others included Thor, Odin, King Auberon, and Queen Titania.
Freddie Fox is Loki
Redanian Intelligence reports that Freddie Fox has been cast as Loki in The Sandman Season 2. Loki was among many new roles that we uncovered to be included in the second season last year.
Freddie Fox’s credits include such projects as Slow Horses, Dr. Who and Netflix’s The Gentlemen. He’ll also soon appear in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and perhaps his most anticipated role – Ser Gwayne Hightower in House of the Dragon Season 2.
Loki will most likely appear in episodes titled “Season of Mists” and “The Ruler of Hell,” along with Odin, Thor, Anubis, and many other deities. We won’t spoil what will bring them all together, but it will be connected to Gwendoline Christie’s Lucifer, let’s just say.
Here’s the previously uncovered list of the first six episodes of The Sandman Season 2 (in no particular order):
- The Song of Orpheus
- More Devils Than Vast Hell Can Hold
- Brief Lives
- Family Blood
- The Ruler of Hell
- Season of Mists
Loki recently was featured in Audible’s Sandman adaption in which he’s voiced by Doctor Who star David Tennant.
Filming on the new season of The Sandman (expected to be 12 episodes) is continuing, and if you want a great recap of all the announcements thus far, either keep it locked on What’s on Netflix or check out this great X thread from Li (LBBCtimeout) who graciously mentioned us several times throughout!
