April 2017 New Netflix Releases

·

Welcome to your first look at what’s coming to Netflix in April 2017. Once again, we’ll have a list below of the movies, TV series, documentaries and Netflix Originals heading our way throughout the month.

You should also keep an eye as to what’s leaving on Netflix in April 2017 too as there are quite a few titles from the FOX library currently scheduled to leave.

We’ll give you some highlights of what’s coming and then move onto the complete list.

April 2017 Highlights

New Netflix Originals

This month’s lineup is dominated by Netflix Originals so let’s start with the biggest. The Get Down will be returning with the final part of its first season. It stars a highly talented cast in a musical show about living in the Bronx in the 1970’s.

We’ll also be getting Chelsea back for 2017 this month in her slightly rejigged format. New episodes will be coming every Friday, that’s down from three a week. Again, expect interviews, bits, and more Donald Trump bashing.

Our final Netflix Original pick is the long awaited return of Mystery Science Theater. A new cast along with some familiar faces will continue the tradition of us being forced to watch shoddy B-movies.

A strong standup month as well with new shows from Louis C.K, Richard Pryor, and Kevin Hart.

New Movies

April 1st contains the most amount of movies although quite a few are titles which have streamed in the past. Two fan-favorite movies are heading on the 1st. Gremlins is the first highlight which is the tale of the little Furby-like creatures who cause chaos if you feed them after midnight. The second is the all-star cast in the comedy movie Tropic Thunder.

Two Disney movies are coming in April although one is a rescheduled title. The BFG was first lined up to release in March but because of licensing issues, has been moved to April. The second, Queen of Katwe, is an inspiring live action movie about a girl who uses chess to escape her home life.

New TV Series

This months TV series mainly come in the form of Netflix Originals, but there are a couple of worthy mentions. First up, we have another exclusive early release from The CW. Legends of Tomorrow will wrap up in early April and will be then added Netflix a week later. That series is among the many DC series that The CW owns.

For comedy fans, Bill Hader’s and Fred Armisen’s second season of Documentary Now is coming, and for those who love all things, British and baking will be happy to see we’re getting some new Great British Baking Show content.
