‘Crew Girl’: Netflix Unveils Trailer, First-Look Images and Poster for YA Series Ahead of September Release

If you’ve been following our coverage, you’ll know we’ve been keeping a close eye on this one ever since we first covered the news of the cast joining the teen drama series. Now, we finally have our extended real look at the show, and it could be poised to be Netflix’s next big young adult obsession.

As announced last month, all eight episodes (clocking in at 44 minutes each) of Crew Girl have officially set a global release date on Netflix for September 10th.

What is Crew Girl about?

Promising a mix of sports drama, old-money elitism, and a classic YA love triangle, Crew Girl looks perfect for fans of My Life with the Walter Boys, Spinning Out, or Outer Banks. Here is the official expanded synopsis provided by Netflix:

“Sixteen-year-old Teagan Tao was a rising star in single sculls rowing until a family scandal capsized her future. Forced to relocate with her mom to the East Coast, Teagan starts over at the prestigious Easton Prep, where she’s not just an outcast but stuck aground – there’s no girls’ rowing team.

Her only way to the water is to take the helm of the school’s notoriously dysfunctional boys’ varsity crew as their coxswain. Thrust into a world of old money and brutal competition, Teagan must find a way to lead a team that doesn’t want her and somehow bring them together. As she juggles her own rowing ambitions, the demands of the boys’ crew, and her family’s escalating complications, she also finds herself unexpectedly caught in the orbit of the team’s two most competitive rivals: the arrogant team captain, Josh Regis, and the quiet but intensely driven underdog, Cam Dillinger.”

Who is in the cast of Crew Girl?

The series has assembled a fantastic cast of rising stars and established television veterans to round out the Easton Prep roster.

Leading the series is Miku Martineau (Kate, Star Trek: Section 31) as our protagonist, Teagan Tao. Joining her as her mother, Ella Tao-Emerson, is Jessica Paré (Mad Men, SEAL Team).

The two boys at the center of the team’s rivalry—and Teagan’s orbit—are played by Sam Braun (Time Cut, Bad Genius) as the arrogant captain Josh Regis, and Kyle Clark (Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between, Riverdale) as the driven underdog Cam Dillinger.

Rounding out the core cast is Thomas Cadrot (Scream, Family Law) as Coach Matt Hayden.
