Leviathan Confirms Netflix Release First Look Teaser

Picture: Netflix

Leviathan has just debuted its first look, along with a trailer and a release date. The series is now set to arrive on Netflix in full on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Coming from the same anime production company as Netflix’s BEASTARS, we got our first glimpses of Leviathan back in June 2024, with a follow-up teaser trailer coming that September, with a confirmation that the series would debut sometime in 2025. In addition to the release date today, we have just received a brand new synopsis, which reads: “Set in an alternate steampunk past, an Austrian fugitive prince and a Scottish airman in disguise embark on an unexpected quest to prevent a world war.”

Late last year, upon the release of Uglies, we spoke to Scott Westerfeld about the upcoming adaptation. He told us, “I will say that Orange and Cubic Pictures are incredible, and are keeping my and Keith Thompson’s original vision in mind the whole way.”

As covered by Westerfeld in his blog, all three books are being covered in the series, which is all coming out this year, and he was involved from the get-go, saying that he was “sent the scripts, the designs, the episodes as they came together. It’s mostly super faithful! (And it’s really cool when it varies from the books.)”

The official voice cast for the series is expected to be revealed imminently. You can see the brand new trailer, featuring some of the score and action sequences you can expect from the new series, embedded below:
