It seems Netflix is taking another swing at the trivia genre. Without much fanfare, a brand new daily quiz game titled Netflix Star Daily Trivia has just popped up on the platform.
As we’ve tracked extensively here at What’s on Netflix, the streaming giant has been steadily expanding its gaming footprint, pushing beyond mobile and increasingly onto web and TV. Now, they are hoping to capture a bit of that daily Wordle magic with a brand-new trivia format.
Netflix Star Daily Trivia is a single-player quiz game that challenges players to answer questions as quickly as they can. As the title suggests, the hook here is retention: players are encouraged to log in and play every day to build up a daily streak. Once you’ve logged in for the daily, you’ll get a warm-up question which is typically based on a TV show or movie you’ve watched on Netflix (I got asked one on Stranger Things this morning and flubbed it). Then you get five questions (in the shape of the star above), and you get bonus points for speed across multiple different categories. Once you’re done for the day, you can track your daily score and lifetime achievements until the refresh.
The game has mouse and keyboard support for those playing on the web, and you can also use your remote’s directional buttons on the TV, meaning that you don’t need to connect with the Netflix controller app.
The game is rated 13+ and was developed by Netflix’s internal Next Games Studio team (who recently launched their Minigolf game) and Tech Lab Games.
Netflix’s Fourth Attempt at Trivia Mastery
If a daily trivia game on Netflix sounds a bit familiar, you aren’t experiencing déjà vu. Netflix Star Daily Trivia technically marks the fourth time the company has launched a trivia-based game, with mixed results in the past.
- Trivia Quest (April 2022): Back in 2022, we asked if Netflix had found its Wordle when they announced Trivia Quest, an interactive daily animated series based on the popular mobile game Trivia Crack. While the daily release strategy was a novel experiment for the streamer, the final product ended up feeling like a bit of a wasted opportunity, lacking the social sharing features that make daily puzzle games go viral.
- Triviaverse (November 2022): Later that same year, Netflix dropped Triviaverse, an interactive quick-fire quiz game that challenged players to answer as many questions as possible before the timer ran out.
- Best Guess Live: Expanding into live interactive formats, Netflix also experimented with Best Guess Live, which leaned heavily into live, stats-based trivia engagement, which has paid out players well north of $2.5M.
Now, in 2026, it looks like Netflix is synthesizing the lessons learned from those earlier interactive specials and live experiments into a dedicated gaming experience. By abandoning the video-based interactive format of Trivia Quest and Triviaverse in favor of a native, browser-friendly game with a heavy emphasis on “building your streak,” Netflix is clearly hoping to establish a daily habit for its subscribers, something it’s already trying with Netflix Puzzled available as both a mobile app and tucked away on Netflix’s TUDUM website.
The game hasn’t widely launched as we couldn’t find it through Netflix’s rows or games hub. That said, you can click Play via the direct link to the page, and it’ll then appear in your “Resume Playing” row.
