Selection Day – Picture: NetflixNetflix has been steadily increasing its Indian content, and one of the standout new titles from the region is Selection Day. The sports drama’s first season made its debut on Netflix, but news regarding the second season has been scarce until now. It appears that Selection Day has been renewed for a full second season.

Season 1 of Selection Day was split into two parts, with Part 1 dropping on Netflix on December 28, 2018, and Part 2 arriving on April 19, 2019. Despite its initial success, the series wasn’t given an immediate renewal.

If you haven’t seen Selection Day on Netflix yet, here’s what you need to know about the story before diving in:

“It’s a coming-of-age story about Manju Kumar, one half of a pair of young brothers raised by a cricket-obsessed father, all aiming for selection into Mumbai’s under-19 cricket team. When 14-year-old Manju, who also has a penchant for scientific facts, gets to know his brother’s greatest rival, his life begins to change. He is faced with decisions that will alter his sense of self and his perception of the world around him.”

We’ve learned that season 2 is in active development, with Sharon Maguire, Anand Tucker, and Anil Kapoor returning to produce. No official confirmation has come from Netflix yet, and current filming dates are still unknown.

The release schedule for season 2 hasn’t been announced, but if it follows a similar structure to season 1, it’ll be split into parts 3 and 4. We expect to see part 3 hit Netflix at some point in 2020, with part 4 following several months later.

We’ll provide more updates on season 2 of Selection Day as we learn more about the series’ development.

For now, let us know in the comments if you’re looking forward to season 2 of Selection Day.
