Walk the Blue Fields is an upcoming romantic drama film directed by John Crowley (Brooklyn). The screenplay was written by Conor McPherson (Artemis Fowl), who has adapted the story from Claire Keegan’s collection of short stories, Walk the Blue Fields.
The film is produced by Denis O’Sullivan and Jeff Kalligheri of Compelling Pictures. Actress Emily Blunt is also a producer through her Ledbury Productions, while Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe produce through Fremantle Company.
The executive producers on the film are Ori Allon, Matthew Gallagher, Dennis Casali, Steven Garcia, Crowley, McPherson, Claire Keegan, and Edmund Sampson.
What is the plot of Walk the Blue Fields?
The film is an adaptation of two short stories from Claire Keegan’s 2007 short story collection, Walk the Blue Fields: “Walk the Blue Fields” and “Night of the Quicken Trees”.
The adaptation will be told from the POV of Margaret Flusk, which is a significant change from the short story Walk the Blue Fields, which previously told the story from the Priest’s POV.
The synopsis for the film is as follows:
“Walk the Blue Fields follows a woman on her wedding day being confronted with a heart-wrenching decision as a love triangle from her past threatens to be revealed.”

Emily Blunt’s only role on Netflix to date is in David Yate’s crime-comedy film Pain Hustlers. One of the most popular British actresses in Hollywood, she is best known for her roles in The Devil Wears Prada, A Quiet Place, and Edge of Tomorrow, as well as for working with legendary directors Christopher Nolan on Oppenheimer and Steven Spielberg on Disclosure Day.

Andrew Scott has starred in a handful of Netflix projects, including Black Mirror, Back in Action, Ripley, and, most recently, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. The actor is best known for his roles as James “Jim” Moriarty in the BBC adaptation of Sherlock, the Priest in Fleabag, Colonel John Parry in His Dark Materials, and as C in the James Bond film Spectre.

At the time of writing, Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for Walk the Blue Fields.
With filming over and now in post-production, there’s a chance we could see Walk the Blue Fields on Netflix before the end of 2026. However, an early 2027 release is much more realistic.
