Netflix’s Engagement Report for the first half of 2026 is out, so it’s time to look at how things are going at Netflix India. In their press release about the report, Netflix made a point to mention that “India had its highest viewing for a half yet.” Much of that viewing (37,000,000 views) was driven by the licensed theatrical release Dhurandhar, currently the fifth highest-earning Indian movie ever.
But what about Netflix India Originals? Let’s take a look at the most-viewed movies and series of the year so far, but also those high quality, must-see titles you don’t want to miss. Here are the best Netflix India Originals from the first half of 2026.

Netflix India Original Movies
Accused
Views: 19,400,000
First added to Netflix: February 27th, 2026
The Hindi psychological drama Accused was practically guaranteed to be a hit for Netflix India. The plot is high-concept and intriguing: a queer gynecologist in London is investigated for sexual misconduct, putting her professional reputation in jeopardy and throwing her marriage to a much younger woman into chaos. On top of that, the main character is played by Konkona Sen Sharma, one of India’s finest actors (and director of a great short in the Netflix Original anthology Lust Stories 2).
Made in Korea
Views: 18,200,000
First added to Netflix: March 12th, 2026
Less than a month after the release of Accused, Netflix India had another hit on its hands. Aiming to capitalize on the growing popularity of K-dramas in India, the streamer developed the cross-over film Made in Korea, with dialogue that shifts between Tamil and Korean. The movie follows a young woman from South India who finds her independence while living and working in Seoul. Squid Game‘s Park Hye-jin plays the young woman’s friend and mentor.
Maa Behen
First added to Netflix: June 4th, 2026
While Maa Behen didn’t reach the viewership numbers that Accused or Made in Korea did, it earned a spot on this list due to sheer quality. The Hindi crime comedy boasts a 77% Tomatometer rating and 79% Popcornmeter rating at Rotten Tomatoes. Bollywood legend Madhuri Dixit stars as a woman with a scandalous reputation who turns to her adult daughters — played by Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga — for help with a tricky problem: hiding the dead body in her kitchen. Maa Behen is as smart as it is funny.
Netflix India Original Series
Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, Season 1
Views: 16,100,000
First added to Netflix: January 13, 2026
Netflix India’s first new Original series of 2026 proved to be its most-watched show, by far. The Hindi thriller Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web‘s 16,100,000 views translate to a massive 87,000,000 hours of viewing. It debuted so strongly that it became the first Indian series to hit #1 on Netflix’s weekly global Top 10 Non-English Series list. Bard of Blood‘s Emraan Hashmi leads the show about customs agents at India’s busiest airport as they track down an international smuggling ring. The series hasn’t been renewed for a second season yet, which is a surprise.
Maamla Legal Hai, Season 2
First added to Netflix: April 3, 2026
A speedy renewal of the Hindi courtroom comedy Maamla Legal Hai after its March 1, 2024 debut meant that Season 2 was able to release just two years later (a fast turnaround by Netflix standards). In terms of hours-watched, Season 2 is performing remarkably well compared to Season 1: 23,200,000 hours for Season 2 in its first three months of release versus 29,700,000 hours in Season 1 in its first four months of release. The sophomore season saw Ravi Kishan’s Advocate Tyagi promoted to judge, overseeing the wacky lawyers and clients of the Patparganj courtroom. There’s no word yet on whether Maamla Legal Hai will return for a third season.
Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, Season 1
Views: 1,500,000
First added to Netflix: June 27, 2026
We admit: there wasn’t a lot of information in Netflix 2026 first-half report for the new Hindi reality series Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa given that it premiered at the very end of June. However, there’s enough evidence from the weekly global Top 10 Non-English Series reports to speculate that this could be one of Netflix India’s biggest series of 2026. It wound up in the weekly Top 10 list during its first two weeks of release, logging 3,400,000 views and 34,200,000 hours of viewing. The show where controversial celebrities try to rehabilitate their images in a mock jail still has about a dozen episodes left to air as of the time of this writing. We’re eager to see where Lock Upp ranks at the end of 2026.
