Netflix quietly confirmed the return date for its smash-hit British spy thriller, Black Doves. Helen and Sam will be back on our screens with a brand-new batch of episodes on November 5th, per some of the audience members who attended Netflix’s big UK showcase event yesterday.

The news was quietly tucked away during this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival, where Netflix unveiled a massive slate of upcoming UK projects. While much of the buzz was rightfully focused on the new Kate Winslet and Anya Taylor-Joy projects, as well as those highly anticipated Top Boy spin-offs (you can check out our full breakdown of the Edinburgh announcements here), eagle-eyed fans will be thrilled to know that Black Doves Season 2 is locked in.

Releasing in full on November 5th—which appropriately lands on Bonfire Night here in the UK—we should probably expect plenty of fireworks.

Attendees at the showcase event were also treated to an exclusive first-look clip of the upcoming season. While Netflix hasn’t released this footage to the public just yet, we expect a proper teaser trailer to drop sometime within the next month or two as the promotional engine gears up.

What to Expect from Black Doves Season 2

Last Christmas, the first season stuffed our stockings full of global intrigue, espionage, and explosive wit. Season 2 picks up with the fallout.

Helen (Keira Knightley) is still betraying her nation’s secrets to the covert organization she serves, the Black Doves. But with her husband, Wallace (Andrew Buchan), now preparing to become prime minister, she’s walking a more treacherous line than ever before.

Meanwhile, Helen’s enigmatic handler, Mrs. Reed (Sarah Lancashire), finds herself ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position within the Black Doves. This leads Helen to reunite with her best friend, Sam (Ben Whishaw), who has been reduced to drinking lonely pints in Soho bars and taking on low-rate hits. As they search for answers, loyalties are weaponized, trust is shattered, and the fight to protect the people they love could cost everything.
