An exciting new crime thriller from the creator of Lupin, titled Blood Sacrifice, is set to premiere on Netflix on August 20, 2026. The 5-part series stars Jakob Oftebro and Peter Andersson as Thomas and Alfred Berg, a father-son duo who attempt to crack a series of violent crimes against police officers. Here’s everything we know about Blood Sacrifice on Netflix.
Blood Sacrifice is an upcoming Swedish Netflix Original crime-thriller series created, written, and produced by George Kay, the man behind Netflix’s popular international drama Lupin and Hijack. The series is produced by B-Reel Films and Observatory Pictures in association with New Pictures.
Taboo’s Kristoffer Nyholm directed the series, while Aron Levander and Emillie Robson are the episode writers. Johannes Åhlund and Ulf Synnerholm for B-Reel Films are the producers on the series, while George Kay, Kristoffer Nyholm, Willow Grylls, and Matt Sandford are the executive producers.

The series creator, George Kay, had the following to say about the series:
“At its heart, Blood Sacrifice is a love story between an estranged father and son duo, whose work draws them back together – all wrapped up inside a dark, adrenalised Scandi noir crime drama. Setting this story in Stockholm, in that strange, haunting light of the Nordic summer, allowed us to build a crime thriller that feels uniquely Swedish and epic.”

What is the plot of Blood Sacrifice?
Netflix has provided a synopsis for Blood Sacrifice:
“It is summertime in Stockholm, when the darkness never really creeps in. A 911 call is received, speaking of a home invasion. Two police officers are sent to the address, a summer house in the archipelago. Only to find there is no one there, at least not that they can see. The next day the bodies of the officers are found, a brutal crime. This is the start of a series of terrifying murders, all seemingly targeting police officers. The lead detective needs to ask his father, a retired detective, for help in cracking the case.”

Who are the cast members of Blood Sacrifice?
Jakob Oftebro plays lead investigator Thomas. The actor is most well known for his leading roles in series such as Hamilton and Stenbeck. He has also starred in Netflix’s Norsemen and The Letter for the King.

Peter Andersson plays Alfred, the father of Thomas. The actor is most well-known for starring as Nils Bjurman in the Millennium trilogy: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, and The Girl Who Played with Fire. He has also starred in Netflix’s An Honest Life and The Unlikely Murderer.
