Yet another ice skating YA drama is making its way to Netflix, with the adaptation of Hannah Grace’s novel Icebreaker. The series, led by showrunner Amanda Lasher, will reportedly begin filming this Fall, and conclude in early 2027. Details are limited, but here’s everything we need to know about Icebreaker on Netflix.
Icebreaker is an upcoming Netflix Original YA romantic-drama series led by series showrunner Amanda Lasher (Gossip Girl). The series is an adaptation of Hannah Grace’s novel of the same name, which is co-written by Lasher and Jade Bartlett (Road House).

Lasher shared a statement with Netflix expressing her excitement about the series:
“I have been a fan of steamy YA since the seventh grade, reading Judy Blume stealthily hidden behind a textbook. I love this genre, and it’s been a joy working with Jade, the team at Unwell, and Netflix to bring Hannah Grace’s beloved Icebreaker novel to the screen.”
Co-writer of the series, Jade Bartlett, also shared a statement:
“It’s been such a joy to play in Hannah Grace’s world of Icebreaker, a story filled with ambitious, talented, and undeniably sexy characters. But the real special sauce is that, above all, they are good, deeply compassionate people … and we cannot get enough of them. Hannah has created the kind of world you want to live in, and Amanda and I are having an absolute romp with our incredible teams at Unwell and Netflix, bringing this cherished story to the screen.”

“Anastasia Allen has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. It looks like everything is going according to plan when she gets a full scholarship to the University of California, Maple Hills and lands a place on their competitive figure skating team. Nothing will stand in her way, not even the captain of the hockey team, Nate Hawkins. Nate’s focus as team captain is on keeping his team on the ice. Which is tricky when a facilities mishap means they are forced to share a rink with the figure skating team—including Anastasia, who clearly can’t stand him. But when Anastasia’s skating partner faces an uncertain future, she may have to look to Nate to take her shot. Sparks fly, but Anastasia isn’t worried…because she could never like a hockey player, right?”

Who are the cast members of Icebreaker?
At the time of writing, there are no confirmed cast members for Icebreaker. We expect to learn more as we get closer to the start of production.
What is the production status of Icebreaker?
In issue 1510 of Production Weekly, it was reported that filming for Icebreaker is set to begin in late September 2026 and is scheduled to end by mid-February 2027.
Filming will take place in Vancouver, Canada.

When is Icebreaker coming to Netflix?
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmation from Netflix for when Icebreaker will be released. Given its filming schedule, we could see the drama on Netflix before the end of 2027.
