Netflix has officially confirmed that the production of its newest medical K-drama, First Doctor. The new K-drama has its cast confirmed, starring Jung Ryeo Won, Ha Yoon Kyoung, Bek Hyun Jin, Jong Soo, and Kim Moo Yul. Here’s everything about First Doctor on Netflix.
First Doctor is an upcoming South Korean Netflix Original medical drama directed by Hong Jong Chan (Teach You a Lesson) and written by Kim Min Seok (Juvenile Justice). The series will be produced by Gil Pictures.
What is the plot of First Doctor?

“A human medical drama set in the pediatric surgery department of a university hospital on the brink of closure due to a population decline and resulting management crisis. The story follows dedicated doctors who take on a child’s first surgery, open the door to their future, and embrace the responsibility of becoming a child’s “first adult,” delivering a powerful and heartfelt message. “
Who are the cast members of First Doctor?
We now have confirmation of all five leads: Jung Ryeo Won, Ha Yoon Kyoung, Bek Hyun Jin, Jong Soo, and Kim Moo Yul.
Kim Mu Yeol will play Bae Su Wol. He is a familiar face on Netflix, having starred in Queen Woo, Sweet Home, Trolley, and Juvenile Justice. He recently starred in Netflix’s K-drama adaptation of Teach You a Lesson, and has been cast in the action comedy Granny. Outside of Netflix, he has starred in K-dramas such as No Way Out: The Roulette, High Cookie, and Grid.

Jung Ryeo Won will play the role of Heo Ji Wan. The actress has yet to star in a Netflix project, and has led in K-dramas such as The Midnight Romance in Hagwon, Diary of a Prosecutor, May It Please the Court, Wok of Love, and Witch’s Court.
The character of Heo Ji Wan has been described as:
“A pediatric surgeon who seems impervious to pain but harbors a warm human touch within.”

Ha Yoon Kyoung will play Ki Eun Gyeol. The actress recently starred in Netflix’s Undercover Miss Hong, and she previously played a lead role in See You in My 19th Life. She has also starred in both seasons of Hospital Playlist, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, The Frog, and Resident Playbook.

Bek Hyun Jin will play Son Sang Baek. The actor has starred in Netflix K-dramas such as Goodbye Earth and The Good Bad Mother, as well as the Netflix film Seoul Vibe. Outside of Netflix, he is most well-known for starring in Happiness, The Devil Judge, and Children of Nobody.

Kim Jong Soo will play Lee Chang Gon. The actor recently starred in Teach You a Lesson, and previously starred in Netflix’s Aema and Kingdom. He has starred in K-dramas such as Moving, The Manipulated, Vagabond, Life, and Misaeng: Incomplete Life.

What is the production status of First Doctor?
Netflix has confirmed the production of First Doctor, and pictures of the table read have been released. It’s unclear what the exact start date for filming is, but with the table read complete, filming will begin in a matter of days.
When is First Doctor coming to Netflix?
At the time of writing, there is no official release date for First Doctor.
With filming now underway, it’s realistic to expect a late 2027 or early 2028 release.
