As Netflix is gearing up for the release of the docuseries Kylie next week, they also seem to have more content featuring the Australian superstar… Such as a concert.
We have already talked about the Kylie docuseries, whose announcement and production were very much quiet and under the radar, until it was finally announced for release in early May. Well, it seems like eagle-eyed fans on social media have gotten an additional scoop: there is at least one companion piece to be released alongside the event programming.
A program page is up for the release of Kylie Minogue’s Tension Tour Live on May 27th, which, as far as we can tell, will be a global release just like Kylie, which releases one week before.
Kylie’s Tension Tour Live program page on Netflix.
The description for the live recording, which will run 2 hours and 2 minutes, reads as follows :
“It’s time to hit the dancefloor as pop superstar Kylie Minogue shares a vibrant, exclusive behind-the-scenes look at her smash 2025 Tension World Tour.”
The tour supported the release of her two latest studio albums, Tension (2023) and Tension II (2024). It took place from March to September of last year globally; Netflix has not confirmed additional details or the release of the program. The description makes it seem as though Tension World Tour Live will show different performances from many dates alongside behind-the-scenes footage; that footage is also expected to be included in the Kylie docuseries, which was in production concurrently.
On Netflix’s part, it is not unusual to release companion pieces with some of their events ; it already occurred with Dahmer in 2022, whose show release was followed, in October of 2022, by docuseries Conversation With A Killer : The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes. The upcoming Swedish series The Witness (next June) will also be released with its companion docuseries about the same case. But it is a little more rare on the unscripted side ; the late Avicii has had a release of both his documentary and concert movie My Last Show in December of 2024. And, in the case of Tension Tour Live, the release has not been officially announced, which makes it a more rare case, though not entirely unheard of; Dave Chappelle has released some of his latest stand-up shows on the platform with “surprise” hidden companion pieces, starring himself or another fellow comedian.
In any case, May will be eventful for Kylie Minogue fans who are also Netflix subscribers.
