Netflix Launches New Meme Party Game: GIFTED

Quietly in testing for a good few months, the meme game has launched ahead of the Netflix is a Joke festival.

Netflix’s gaming expansion onto your TV and web is showing no signs of slowing down in 2026. Following the highly successful rollout of TV-based party games late last year—including family-friendly favorites like LEGO Party!, Boggle Party, and Pictionary: Game Night—Netflix is stepping up the maturity rating and the laughs. Arriving exclusively on TV and Web via cloud streaming, an all-new, hilariously twisted meme-making party game has just dropped on the platform.

If you’ve ever played What Do You Meme?, Cards Against Humanity, or any of the Jackbox Party Packs (a special collection is now available, fyi), you’ll know exactly the kind of chaotic energy to expect—only this time, you’re dealing with animated GIFs. From the “This is Fine” dog to Hide the Pain Harold, it’s got a bit of everything. The official pitch for the game from Netflix is simple:

“Grab your phone and your funniest friends to throw down in the ultimate meme-making party game. Whose twisted GIF creations will reign supreme?”

Instead of fumbling with Bluetooth controllers or buying expensive consoles, players simply use their smartphones via the Netflix Game Controller app. Your phone becomes your secret weapon for submitting captions, voting on the best creations, and ultimately crowning the meme champion of your friend group.

Unlike many of Netflix’s earlier mobile-only titles, this game is designed specifically for the living room or playing with friends remotely via your web browser. It supports up to 9 players, making it the perfect focal point for your next game night.

Here are the full details directly from the game’s page:

  • Category: Party Games
  • Modes: Single player, Local multiplayer, Online multiplayer, Local co-op,
    Online co-op
  • Players: 1-9
  • Duration: 20+ Minutes
  • Available on: TV, Web
  • Controllers: Game controller app (Use your smartphone!)
  • Developer: Netflix
  • Release Year: 2026
  • Maturity Rating: 18+ (sexual content, language, player interaction, drugs)

Note: Only select devices and those in select countries currently have access to the cloud games.

This game has been in the works for quite some time, with playtests dating back to last Summer on the Netflix Games Playtest Server on Discord. It’s been developed by IS3 (IS standing for internal studio) within Netflix. May Garcia, a producer at Netflix Games, posted on LinkedIn upon the launch:

“So excited (and honestly really proud) to share that GIFTED is officially live! This one’s been a true labor of love and a lot of laughter, getting to collaborate with incredibly talented (and very funny) game developers, GIPHY, and amazing partners across Netflix’s comedy and transmedia teams. You can play it on Netflix right now! It’s a social party game like no other. Jump in with friends and compete for the title of GIFTED.”
